General Question on "cockpit beds"

Hey folks - general question on the bed over the cockpit of the Thor Class A RVs (mine is a 2014 Outlaw 37LS). Questions are:
- does the bed have to be lowered all the way down as far as it will go (resting on the bottom brackets on either side)?

Reason for the ask is when I lower mine all the way it literally rest on the driver side dash and pushes the dash down an inch or so. This can't be good for the dash and I assume will eventually crack the plastic or maybe even the gauge panel window.

Hoping I will hear back that the "tracks" and cables are strong enough to support the max weight limit without lowering down to the support brackets.

second question - what is or where can I find the weight limits for my cockpit bed?

Thanks in advance for all answers, opinions and comments.

If you don't have a tag saying differently, consider 250lbs the limit.
Drill and insert pins where you want the bed to lower to.

I'll consider that approach - thank you

In my 38MB the bunk does not touch dash. It rests upon its base (run down till it stops holding switch a few seconds after it stops) it is about 3 inches above dash and captains chairs rear facing and backs either full back or forward are both clear of bed. It rests flat on track bottom .It does not touch the dash or seatbacks.
Most importantly make sure when bed is up pins are fully inserted to “lock” bed in up position. I had to re-drill the pin hole because the pin would not go in fully.

Bed Over Driver

The Owners manual and the key on mine has wt limit. 250 lbs. I have seen this multiple times at dealers. If the bed gets out of adjustment, this is what can happen...

I think this is very difficult to repair.

My coach has a yellow sticker next to the key and switch above the entry door. The max occupancy weight for the bunk is listed at 500 lbs. I would assume that is the same for all Windsports and Hurricanes made in the 2016 model year. I doubt that Thor MC would change the bunk system for the more expensive plant 850 coach.
