Good luck! Let us know how it turns out. If previous reports are any indication you should be very pleased.

You should be very pleased.
Did you ask them how many they've accomplished prior?

He has been installing non stop since last December and has several Palazzos under his belt. I was impressed with his setup and staff. Technicians have a lot of years in RV industry.

They have already sent me video of where my rollers are not even touching the metal plates so all the load is on the Schwintek system. Probably why my rails were getting chewed up.

The Vroom hardware is impressive.

The rollers he is going to use should handle the load easily. The rollers installed from factory are meager at best.

Can you do me a slight favor?
Ask him what he does with the removed system?

I've been thinking about approaching the Tucson shop for 6 of them.
I'm building some massive 3ftx6ftx2ft drawers and would love to have them powered.

Cheap Linears from amazon are probably 100 times easier for me.
I need the thought that comes up every time someone mentions vroom, to go away.

Just a conversation point.
Nothing else.

He just tosses the rails, etc and has a bunch of the motors. I'm going to keep the motors and will sell them. Rails I have no need for.

Good idea on the motors.
Get your control box also
(And any others he'll give you.)
A running adv here would benefit everyone.

Vroom uses the same controllers.

500:1 Vroom motors. They do not drop in, they are screwed down eliminating the set screw that holds the Schwintek drop in motor in place.

Patriots has been nothing less than fantastic to work with. I'm very impressed. A lot of talented and knowledgeable people working there.

Sorry been on road trying to get back home to TN.

The Vroom system is so far above the Schwintek. It is very smooth and quiet. The quietness surprised me. I was standing just outside the door when a tech brought the large slide in and I never heard it. So that anxiety of the sound of the slide struggling is eliminated. Lol.

They added 7 new high quality rollers on the large slide. Added some aluminum shims where there were gaps in the walls and other minor adjustments.

They repaired the water damage on the bedroom slide. Moved the rollers and metal roller plates so they were actually over the metal structure instead of the Styrofoam.

I was very impressed with the overall operation and staff. It wasn't cheap but I felt the price for the amount of work was very reasonable. I am very happy with the work and results.

Just playing devil's advocate here... I've heard a lot of Schwintek premature failures are directly related to external factors and not necessarily the Schwintek hardware.

These factors being:
* Out of square slide room
* Non-parallel installation of tracks
* Improper placement of carriage rollers
* Hardware not properly attached to walls
* Improper application (slide too large/heavy)

Many repair videos I've seen seem to be addressing installation issues far more than actual engineering and fitness for purpose.

Case in point... maybe I was one of the lucky ones who just happened to get a (pre COVID) properly installed Schwintek? Granted, I try to avoid the stupid stuff, and I admit I use Teflon lube on the friction points, but NOT directly in the gear tracks. It has worked smoothly since new.

I'm certain Vroom's beefier hardware is more robust... but I'd venture that 90% of their success comes from their expertise and careful installation procedures. When things are installed plumb and square with proper fasteners, the end result is nearly always a satisfied customer!!

I would agree with you.

The rollers I think are one of the weakest links. Couple that with all the other factors and you have a recipe for failure.

Patriots RV's attention to detail, very robust hardware and proper installation makes for a system less subject to failure.

Unfortunately with manufacturers looking to save nickels and dimes these standards are not adhered too in most builds.

With that said I do not live in the world where a failure will not / or could not happen with any system. My schwintek was showing signs of pending failure and I am someone who likes to be proactive with maintenence and upgrades. I had debated about even doing the bedroom small slide. I am glad I did due to the water issues and they also found the rollers were not properly installed in the correct locations.
