My thor 29m vs pace arrow dp review!!

heres my experience so far.....I bought a new diesel pusher,33.6 feet…. the most power you can get is the 6.7 300hp 660 tq the whole rear section was a closet... so reality the floor plan was more equal to a 30'r..so in reality , the coach we have now...2019 thor hurricane 29m 30".8""with the full wall slide is bigger....the DP weighed about 8000lbs more,so it ate up all the power...the dp got about 9 mpg plus def towing...the new gasser towing the same trailer gets 7.5...and 8.5 average. not towing.. the ride on the freightliner total sucked.... bumps in the road caused loud crashing sounds and rattles everywhere..the whole dash section was a big rattle trap that once you found and fixed the rattle... after one bumpy road ride … a new one..what I did was change out the tires from the 255's to 275's... made a would of difference... but still not that riding on clouds that other with the same coach brag about...I've owned over a dozen of those freight shakers...all ride like a dream on a smooth road....but throw some bumps in there...watch out!!! the people that own these DP's rave so much that people with the gassers think they got short changed and can't wait to step up...keep in mind here, I'm talking about a low end diesel pusher...but in comparison to the same size of usable space and have the same furniture options,..

as it is right now, and I've done nothing what so ever to the ford chassis...it corners better … takes off faster... pulls the same trailer up hills faster...and rides smoother and quieter down ruff roads...up hills the DP would drop to 4th at about 45 mph... where as the ford, 4th pulled 55/60 mph,... same hill, pulling the same trailer...both coaches were right at GCWR....with the same trailer hooked up..the diesel was about 5 db quieter in 4th gear up hills, but 5 db louder and more on flat ground every little bump pegged the db meter..

but here's the kicker...the pace arrow was right at double the cost all across the board... twice the sales price, sales tax, license plates, and insurance...the fuel was more when you add the DEF to the price

this comparison was done with a 2018 pace arrow vs 2019 winniebago ,and a 2019 thor 29m

I've listened to people on both sides of this fence....but come to find that those that voice the most have never own either,.. and the others have never owned both....so there you have it... reality ...

Wow, thanks for the review.... Im very suprized that the DP was not quieter inside as well as not pulling the hills quicker (or as quick) than the Gasser.

But like you said it was an entry level DP.... I would hope the more expensive and more HP/TQ models would be better.

Im glad you like your Hurricane. I think that is a great floor plan (29M) and a good value for the money.

All you need a that rare "convertable top" option. I have a Saws-all and duct tape - swing on by.
