What bit for fasteners on 2017 Thor Coach

I have noticed that many of the factory fasteners are “star” type. A T-15 Torx bit is too small and a T-20 is too large to fit them. I believe they also may have 8 points instead of 6 (going out to check that today)

Do we have to purchase some specialty bit from Thor to make adjustments?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Blue Skies,
Dave

Our 2018 ACE has square screw heads. I have not noticed any Torx in ours.

It actually takes a square drive if it’s 8 point. Baffled the fire out of me on a cargo trailer. No star or torx would fit right. I called the factory and they said it was a square drive. Obviously doesn’t engage all 8 points

Ours is a 2020... most screw fasteners are Robertson, which is a tapered square bit. The screw heads have a shallow cross pattern which make them look (misleading) like a type of Phillips head. We had a 2017 Grand Design towable which used the same screw type.

I got a magnifier and did a little detective work... They are definitely not made for a Phillips head bit.

The Robertson seemed to fit best... nice and snug. You may also be able to get an ECX bit (used on electric outlet screw terminals) to work... those have a square center with a cross pattern similar to a Phillips. I have even used a small flat blade screwdriver before I figured out what they were.
