air conditioner not working on generator
Hi all, I have a 2017 Four Winds 22e and when running the generator (with no shore power), the air conditioner won't run. It sounds like it's trying but it's very rough sounding.
Any advice? tia

I have a 2015 31e Four Winds, no issues. Is you switch transferring? Will your microwave or tvs power up? When I fire up the AC I turn off high draw items like water heater and microwave. Initial start up of the AC strains the generator initially due to the starting amps.

thanks for replying. The only thing I can think of that was causing a draw is recharging the house battery so I tested again after an hour drive and it seemed to do the same thing. Is there some sort of 'starting capacitor' I can install? On my house we were looking at replacing our entire AC system until I added this capacitor and 2 years later, still running strong.

I had the same issue, then the next day, had no 110 power anywhere, from shore or Genny.
Found out a leg of AC had arced and melted the connector.in the TRANSFER SWITCH
After am exciting afternoon trying to find it (wasn't where THOR.said it was)
Stripped the wire back, replaced the wirenut and back in business
Hasn't happened again.

Have you metered the output voltage from your generator. It could be outputting low voltage.

This happened to us three weeks after we bought new. Called THOR warranty and they suggested the problem and helped us find the transfer switch. Most of the issues we have had, we have fixed ourselves. Beats the scheduling wait at the dealer.
THOR has been great every time we have called.

I'd open up the transfer switch and make sure all the connections are tight. I do this annually. Had an issue where mine arc'd, causing wires and box to melt. Real close to an all out fire. Especially being that you rig is new I recommend tightening.

Since having melted connections at the transfer switch and at the outside shore power receptacle recently, I decided to check all the connections in the converter and HW heater. The main incoming power lugs in the converter were tight, but was able to make 1/2 to 3/4 turn on some other lugs. Also checked connection on HW heater, tightening wire nuts and taping. I can sleep better knowing the smoke alarm has less chance of going off.
