Where to stay????

I am planning a trip to the Florida Keys this spring. My wife and I will have our two grandchildren (3 and 5) and two small dogs. Any ideas on a good place to stay? A pool is a must. I am open to any location in the Keys.

I would suggest "googling" FL Keys RV Parks and you will find numerous places along the way with comments.
Sounds like a great trip planned with the grandkids. The Keys are a nice vacation spot.

Thank Larrry,

I lived in Orlando as a kid in the 50's. I went to school there through the fourth grade. That was before Disney. Leaving as a fourth grades does not leave me with many adult traveling memories. I do remember fishing off the Titusville pier and a few fishing beaches on the east coast. Orlando was just a small city at that time.

I was hoping someone would tell me about a trip they had and a good place to stay in the Keys.

If someone has found a good place for the family I'd like to hear about it.

I am assuming Key West is not as kid or family friendly as other places. I have read there are places to see there but mostly for adults.

I'd like a family friendly campground with full service. My grandkids are from Chicago and only see snow, concrete and masses of people.

I said I'd like to have a family friendly place to stay but last year we took our grandson on a trip and he saw the ocean and palm trees for the first time. When we got home we asked him what his favorite part of the trip was and he said, "sleeping with grandma and grandpa."

That's kind of like buying an expensive birthday present and the child preferring to play with the box.

Phil

Kids say what they're feeling don't they? That's funny and very true about them enjoying the things you wouldn't expect so much. Making memories they don't forget.
While Key West is probably more adult oriented, there are places there like Mallory Square that has child friendly entertainment/enjoyment. Of course they might just as well enjoy watching the sunsets with the grandparents.
It will surely be a trip to look forward to after a winter of snow for you all.

A really good site for honest campground reviews (sort of like "campground yelp") is:
RV Park Reviews - Trusted Reviews of Campgrounds & RV Parks
I typically check that first when going to a place I've never been before. So far its been spot on--been using it since 2010 at least. I stopped purchasing the campground guides after I found it.
Its recently gone through a huge site redesign..

Wow Jamie,

Thanks for the info. Another reason to belong to this group.

if you look at the motels/hotels in Key West many of them are male or female only. Just be careful of where you stay. Don't bend over and pick up a quarter on the street in Key West

If you are a GoodSams member you can map out your whole trip and also find all kinds of info on parks where to stay, things to do etc.
