Are there any Windsport 29M owners lurking on this forum?

We are very pleased with the 29M. We previously owned a 31' travel trailer that we had for 12 years. We were looking for a smaller class A and after a year of research, we settled on either a Hurricane or Windsport. We went to the Tampa Super RV Show with the intent of purchasing one of them. We got the best deal on the Windsport 29M.

So far, we have spent two short trips and we are very pleased with our purchase. There were three bubbles in two of the decals, which they are going to replace. Everything else has worked fine. We love the floor plan and from our previous travel experiences, this will be perfect for us.

The only thing I need to figure out, is how to use my Cpap when not using shore power (there are no 12 volt outlets in the bedroom). The only time I've every needed this was in some very remote areas in Alaska. So it is not that big of a proplem.

Hi David,

Good to hear that you are enjoying your new motorhome! My wife and I got up close and personal with the Windsport 29M this past Thursday at Motorhome Specialist in Alvarado, TX and were impressed also. Do me a favor and check your water pump located under the bench in the dinette (directly under the TV)...I found a leak with anti-freeze on the floorboard and the framing of the bench cracked due to what I think was over-torqued screws. Your RV may be A-OK but you may want to check just to be sure.

Again, congrats on your purchase and happy RVing!!!

Windsport 29M problems

Check drawer under couch slides on its ball bearings fall out, water pump below bench seat. In bins look for hanging water and power supply cords, you haved to load around. In mine black water valve handle hit door and doesn't close tight. Panel fell of below bathroom sink, could see where air gun shot staples through material. Was told all would be fixed hope so. Like V10 and 6 speed. Rides nice check tire pressure mine came with 90 psi in left front 86 psi on right front, rears had 84 in all. On drive home from dealer all over road. Let set a few days checked air in all tires and set at 80 psi in all, loaded and took on trip rode and drove nice

If you search CPAP on the forum you will see some threads where this was discussed and the solutions some folks have come up with.

There are 3 12 volt outlets in the 29m. One by the small desk and one on each side of the bed.

We purchased our 29M this summer. Fortunately, our dealer does a great job of going thru and checking everything out prior to delivery. When we did our walk-thru, the tech explained everything that he had fixed. A few minor defects discovered and were fixed. My only heartburn is the lack of info in the Thor manual. We love the unit. Winterizing took some time to figure out, but only took 2 gallons of the pink stuff.

Purchased new 29M Windsport a couple of months ago and LOVE it, great floor plan and good storage. Rear view camera is marginal at best, cup holders don't hold anything, tv's are ok. Power front shade is great, water heater gets HOT on electric, and quickly too. Runs and drives great! Have made several small modifications to the coach, nothing major.

This is our second coach from Thor and couldn't be happier.

W5, Congratulations on your new coach!!! We have had or Windsport 29M for a couple of months now and LOVE it!!! One of the floor plans on the market for a couple not wanting a "Big" coach. We can park and store or coach in our driveway ready to go anytime. Small enough to drive and park a lot of places we COULDN'T go with our 40' Tuscany. We made a great decision when we downsized!

Windsport 29M MPG

We purchased our 29M Feb of this year and have put 4500 miles on it. About half of it, pulling a Malibu on a tow dolly. It has been surprising good on gas. Overall, we are averaging 13.4 MPG. We had a 31' ArticFox TT that we pulled with a 2500 (8.1) Avalanche and averaged 8.5 MPG. I only was hoping to get close to 10 MPG with the Windsport. So we are real pleased with our purchase.

So far our worst problem were the kitchen sink not draining, the drivers seat almost falling over and the passenger side wiper hanging up. All were fixed by the dealer (General RV in Tampa).

Waiting on a new radio now - wife fell when I stopped and broke the radio.

Am researching TPMS's now to purchase before our next big trip towing the car.

Anyone done any mods on theirs?

Hope everyone is enjoying their 29M's as much as we are.

Hard way to break the radio!!! Sincerely hope your wife was not hurt, radio can always be replaced!!!

Your gas mileage is fantastic, about two weeks ago we took a 2000 mile trip, best mileage was 8.9, no toad behind. Maybe after a little more break-in mileage will go up.

Only problem so far was a bad freeze sensor on back AC. My wife is vertically challenged and her feet didn't touch the floor in the passenger seat. Bought a foam cushion from Amazon which is made to go under a desk, works great and she's happy. Also had to get a small stool so she could get in bed, don't know why Thor made it so high. If the bed was shorter there would still be plenty of storage underneath.

We love our 29M, great floor plan and lots of usable storage for this size coach!
Planning another trip soon!!!

Hurricane 29m

Hi, Well we picked it up for about noon. About 2 hour look over . Stretched it out as I played with everthing.. opened every draw, all doors money that once. Checked all outside bays and ran hot water, made sure the water heater fired off on gas, lite stove, oven,.one lose piece of wood over microwave, and it was fixed while I played with radio, all tvs,..
Drove it home about 22 miles and it has good power, the 18 wheeler sway was not as bad as my winnebago sightseers 29r which has the same wheel base but on a workhorse chassis and a gm engine.. Surprise, pretty quiet, a little wind noise at 65 when I merged over to get out of on ramping people..But found the driver side window was not locked. The 2017 new partial paint and smooth gel coat looks better that 2015 ..our first real test will come mid October as we run a short 200 miles to family thing and then back in 4 days.. Tomorrow I'm going up on roof and under the chassis to look around..be safe everone..Harold

I have 2017 Hurricane 29M that I picked up a couple of months ago. I've done a few mods.

So far I'm very happy with the mh Its perfect for the dw and I. We were looking at bigger coaches but after seeing the 29M it was a quick decision to get it.

We had a 40 foot Tuscany that we really enjoyed, problem was a place to store and always had to tow a vehicle, we had it for a little over 4 years.

The floor plan of the 29M is great! We can store the coach in our driveway, don't have to pull a toad because it's short enough to drive most places if you're careful. Lots of usable storage, good counter space, comfortable seats.

I have started a few modifications but I haven't been able to figure out how to post pictures from my iPad. I can select the pictures but they don't load for some reason, maybe someone can give me instructions, I would very much appreciate it!

As much as we loved our Tuscany I think we like our new coach better, Thor did a great job with the design!

So far, so good

We picked up our Hurricane 29M last week. Same as Windsport except for decor. We camped for the weekend and are very happy with the 29M. We changed from a C class, so getting adjusted to the driving position will take a few miles, but otherwise, no issues. Very comfortable and very efficient floorplan. Fit and finish in our unit are very good (in spite of the posts about quality you see). Good luck!
