Windy Day Awning Issue Solved...

Our Girard, and to a lesser degree, the Carefree on the Super C couldn't take much wind. I purchased the Carefree of Colorado Awning Support Pole Kit-HD to see how it works. Amazingly heavy duty and turns Awning nearly into a pole bar. No longer locked inside during light to moderate storms.

I started making one with paint roller poles and parts and pieces. Then thought...if I'm doing this, someone else has done it to so I started searching online. It's really built heavy duty and the "HD" version has 2 sets of cradles that will work with any awning. Carefree obviously know their weakest point.

No but it shouldn't affect that if you secure it properly. If I did, I would turn that feature off while using this kit.

If it is a Thor MC RV you have to pull the fuse in the power center to disable the auto-retract (Direct Response). The CofC patio awning installation kit comes with dual rocker switch "operations control panel" which does disable the Direct Response module. Due to probable "operator error", Thor MC chooses NOT to install this control panel.

Sure it will, change the angle of the awning, the end of the awning on my ACE can be as low as 6' off the ground.

Awning set to lowest setting. Roller is 8 1/2' above the ground on a level surface. So, braces will work provided camp site is level. However, if the campsite is more than 6" or more low off level where the support will need to go it Will not work for My ACE motorhome.

I really miss the old style arms on the manual awnings. This awning provides very little shade when the motorhome curb side is facing south. At this time of year about all it does is shade the side of the coach. At high summer I only get about 4' or 5' of shade.

My ACE-equivalent has an awning that is also above 9 feet with the pitch arms adjusted for the steepest slope. I would be concerned about pulling it lower, especially since the instruction sheet (from above Amazon link) says not to do it.

It would be great to have a way to leave the awning out in moderate wind-- during the rain is when it would be really nice!

4 days and nights with awning out 24/7. We didn't have a hurricane but there was light wind gusts enough to lift the EZ UP a bit...enough that I would have put awning in. Awning never flickered. Excellent product the works perfectly. Field tested!

Too damn bad you didn’t develop these first. At $125 for 2 telescoping poles and straps somebody is making royalty money! I’m going to try your paint pole idea.

From both sides of the fence...this is better. Awning out for several days with no issues...priceless. The poles are really heavy duty...the anchoring system is strong...worth the money for sure. But...I have a few paint poles with a few holes drilled in them if you want them. FOB, PCB.

I've done this for years, just a pair of 'Elephant' brand, lockable poles with pins on the end and a small hole x 2 in the roller, I've even added a slide in screen for shade or shelter from rain showers. Total cost, about £200 or $240.

That's not how Amazon links work. The link is just to the product, not an account. I don't have an address in Woodbury.
