2016 Vegas 24.1----Removing Hood

On the 2016 Vegas 24, you use hood keys to release the upper part of the hood. There seems to be something at the bottom holding it in place. I don't want to break anything. How do I get past whatever is holding the bottom? Johnny1943

There isn't anything holding the hood in other than the two latches you release with the keys.

You do, however, have to kind of pull the bottom out so it doesn't hit the bumper. I usually grab one of the bottom rungs along with a top one and pull almost straight out.

When I first tried to open mine it would hardly move. WD40 on everything and open hood at least once a month and WD40 again. No problems since.

The bottom is held on by a hinge assembly. After releasing the two locks, pull out on the top and bottom and lower the top toward you swinging down on the hinge.

Mr. Felker...Thanks, I got the hood open. Lubed it and all is moving smoothly now. So much to learn. We are headed to Miami in a few days. Hope the camper doesn't disappointment me. (I was in the USAF from 1963 to 1966.)..Johnny1943
