Well said Gary! I, too was a Director at several major corporations and I tried to be careful about public comments that could reflect back on the business. The execs I worked under did so also, but there are some like Marcus who, as you say, can't seem to resist sharing their opinions.

It seems to me that Lemonis' comment is being misquoted out of context. I went back to original statement and listened to his interview on CNBC and his tone isn't as divisive as I thought it would have been based on press reports.

He used poor wording for sure, but was talking against racism, not Trump supporters in general. To me it sounds like he said that if you support racist views, then don't shop at Camping World. And even that was stated as part of a larger conversation on how CEOs need to be careful how they interject their personal views, so was using it as an example.

I thought the apology letter was well written. Many times they say "I'm sorry" and leave it go at that. His letter was asking for forgiveness and that says something to me that a simple I'm sorry doesn't. I agree with Chance that it was taken out of context.

On a similar note, Dirty Jobs star, Mike Lowe, had someone write a comment telling him that since he tries to stay apolitical he must be a racist. Mike Rowe's comment was "I cannot think of a single celebrity whose opinion matters to me so there is no reason to think that my opinion matters to anyone else." I wish a few more celebrities felt this way.

The apology was from the CEO because of the backlash NOT from the MAN apology not accepted cancelled everything to do with Camping World

Everyone is entitled to interpret the original comment and apology as they see fit. However, in his original comment he did not mention Trump. He mentioned racism, etc.

Did anyone see Marcus live feed post on facebook. I did and i get where he was coming from and his intent with his original comments.

His comments were to racists not against republicans or Trump supporters. I kind of like the guy. Ive seen many interviews with him and i dont think hes a bad guy. Think many are over thinking this or listening to others opinions instead of making their own. Would never let camping world touch my mg but ill continue to buy things from the store.

I watch the show and respectfully disagree with you. His motto "people, process, profits. People to him are employees and customers.

My only experience with his many businesses is with my local camping world. Great service while shopping and the service center is helpful with advise for problems.

He just bought in to a Farrells ice cream shop close to the house but the wife refuses to go there. Love that place but i eat way to much ice cream. That's why Maria refuses to go.

I wish these big time business people that cater to the private citizen would just concentrate on business and stay OUT of political statements. Starbucks, same crap about a year ago from their CEO. I like their coffee and other drinks they make and sell but if I can "since then", I'll settle for something else from someone else.

I didn't know Farrell's still exist! My very first job at 15 1/2 years old was at Farrell's in Metrocenter Mall in Phoenix. That was a long, long time ago.
