Embedded URLs - 404 Not Found
Janet, I'm experiencing 404's when clicking on links embedded in posts.
It wants to go to Thor Forums first and pass the rest as a parameter. It's failing. If I bypass this and 'Copy Link'. It works fine. I think you should stop trying to wrap URLs in your warning page about leaving the forum.
Breaks:
https://www.amazon.com/Camco-Support...7150025&sr=8-1
Works if you copy/paste in new tab:
amazon.com/Camco-Support-Folding-Travel-51490/dp/B000EDUUJ4/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=rv+ladder+rack&qid=1577150025& sr=8-1

Interesting, the link that doesn't work includes the ellipsis (...) used to indicate that the link is longer than what is displayed and, thus, is missing a bunch of stuff.

I know that my eyesight is horrible; what is the difference between those 2 links?

Nothing wrong with your eyes. The process is trying to be 'intelligent' by recognizing 'www' and automatically turns it into a url. Quote a post with links in it and you'll see the html tags.
copy paste this into a new tab:
amazon.com/Camco-Support-Folding-Travel-51490/dp/B000EDUUJ4/ref=sr_1_1

one of my Dad's favorite quotes. Sometimes getting fancy isn't worth the effort. If they want to get fancy, they should upgrade the look and feel to something that's not stuck back in the 80's. Just sayin'.

Here's a real Amazon link:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The display is shortened but the hyperlink is the full link. I've never been warned about leaving the forum on any link and if you hoover above the link you can see there is no "wrap-around, only the direct link.
Maybe you have a user setting to warn you about leaving the forum?

Hmmm. Not sure what MSFT did to Edge but it's supposedly based on Chromium.

That's because it is a real hyperlink. You only see the:
"https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1"
But if you hoover your mouse over it you can see the embedded hyperlink is:
"https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MF5S1S4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"
The embedded hyperlink for the "link" you posted is exactly what you see:
"https://www.amazon.com/Camco-Support...7150025&sr=8-1" which does not, in fact, exist.
However, the problem you referenced which had to do with the forum trying to intercept the link and warn you about leaving the forum, but instead breaks the link and gives you a 404 error only manifests itself to me when I use Edge. I end up with this in the address bar:
"https://www.thorforums.com/forums/misc.php?postid=216880&threadid=20175&external_pag e=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fproduct%2FB0 1MF5S1S4%2Fref%3Dppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00%3F ie%3DUTF8%26amp%3Bpsc%3D1"

Thanks for the forensics - sincerely.
If Google (Chrome) wasn't so invasive of your privacy, I'd use it. Take the time to read their terms and agreement. It's a long boring read but it sheds a lot of light on how your privacy is invaded, regardless of what you think you're turning 'off'. I won't go into details. The details are in the referenced agreement.
If you have GMail, they read your emails. Your phone? Forget it. Unless you do everything right, they access all, and I mean ALL of your data. Set each app's sync function to off, except those you really need to sync (e.g. email), Then only turn sync on when you need it. If you sync, it gets stored at Google and they have every right to access and analyze it because you're using their services. If you want to put yourself out there like that, it's your prerogative. I choose not and will put up with the pain to protect my privacy.

That's why I don't use Chrome but a Chromium based alternative browser that doesn't talk to the mothership Google. When Edge goes Chromium based it won't talk to the Google mothership either and Google is not happy about that.

'Mothership' Love It!
Edge says it's based on the Chromium open source project: "This browser is made possible by the Chromium open source project and other open source software."
I was very disturbed to find a file in the User Data directory that carries your account password status. The file is 'Local File' and it's content contains the following:
"password_manager":{
"os_password_blank":false,
"os_password_last_changed":"13221780406808311"
}
os_password_blank shows whether or not your computer account is password protected. Choose a blank password, and it's value changes to true. For testing purposes only. Never leave an account unprotected.
os_password_last_changed - the timestamp is Unix and can be converted online in any number of calculators/converters.
Seems you can't really trust anyone/anything anymore?

Unless you have an Edge Preview version you don't have a chromium based Edge browser:
