I use a computer program, MS Streets & Trips, you could use Mapquest, Google Maps, etc. There are several trip routing websites and abs that can show you campgrounds near the route you choose.

I also rely on OvernightRVParking, the website and ap to find places that are free or nearly so. And both RVParky and AllStays aps. Enjoy your trip!

https://roadtrippers.com/ is a fun one to use as it can add all sorts of things to see along your trip--it may not have as many campgrounds in its database as some other sites though.

Are you planning to travel I-95 or take a more coastal route?

I-95, Carolina Crossroads RV Resort. Easy on and off.

There are lots of camping locations in Myrtle Beach (where I lived from 1997 to 2012). FWIW, from there to Charleston is about two hours down Route 17. However, it does take about 1.5 hours to get from I-95 to Myrtle Beach. Hope this helps.
