Ken.

P.S,. Some of us always assume they post great stuff, so they don't need it.
I was asking more of a nuts and bolts question: Specifically what happens when you press the button. I see there is a popup that appears asking "Send your thanks to...". Given the window that appears and the text it looks like it sends a PM to the poster with "Thanks". Will have to experiment...hmm can I "thank" my own posts.

Edit: Interesting: Pressing "Thanks" on your own post shows a popup saying "This post has been thanked X times". Cool.

LOL! Cool you do get a PM (to the few people who have "thanked" my post above thanks LOL).

Looks like this:

This is not quite what I was hoping for, was looking for a simple "like" button. Didn't want to inundate posters with (potentially) a bunch of PM's. OTOH, it is nice to see the Admins read the request and added something in response, so I'm not complaining.

Problem with that is unless the original poster goes back and reads his own posts (who does that on a regular basis?) they would not see the thanks.

Good thing I misunderstood you. I couldn't have answered the question without trying to do it myself had I understood it. Now you did it for both of us.

The Thanks button was added late last week. As noted, when you click on 'thanks' a little window pops up and you have the opportunity to send a personalized brief note which will be delivered to the poster by PM. The note is not required however and you can just dismiss the message box and move on. The thanks will still be noted (just without the personal note).

There is an option in your user cp to disable notification for "thanks" if you are concerned about being overwhelmed.

You can also see all thanked posts and any comments from your Profile page as well: http://www.thorforums.com/forums/usercp.php

Thank you Janet! I'm not concerned about myself being overwhelmed by the thank you notes, just didn't want to deluge guys like Jamie Geek, Super Dave and others who seem to have great answers to nearly every question!

I've only used the site on my iPad. When I click Thank, a window pops up. So I'm going to guess that you have your privacy settings such that you don't allow pop ups. Change that in your browser to allow for this site, and I'm thinking you'll be thanking me soon!

Well I'm using chrome, and it doesn't work. However it works with Edge. So the problem is with my Chrome settings. I think I'll just put them back to default. Thanks.

Not just a neophyte either. I've been messing around with PC's since before IBM came out with their first one. However I would have been fumbling around here for a while I'm sure, if you hadn't mentioned that it was a popup. Thanks again,

Ken
