Exclamation How to make your pictures post upright instead of sideways.

Edit your picture.
Any slight edit to size will do. Do a crop.
The edited picture will post in the upright orientation instead of sideways.
It works for me every time without fail.

Since we're here,
Here's how to post a picture.

The button below this box I'm typing in says
Go advanced.
Punch it.
The whole screen changes a bit.
Go down a couple of boxes and find the
Manage attachments
Punch it.
A second screen opens up, don't panic.
Top left button is
Choose file
Punch it.

Go meander the pictures in your phone or computer, find the one you like and
Punch the picture or file name.
Remember to use a pic you've already edited in your phone or computer or it probably won't be upright in your post.
Do this up to four times, you'll see how when you see the four identical choose file buttons.
On the bottom far right of the add files box is
Upload
Punch it.
Hang around it might take a moment. Uploading file uploading file.... Bingo!
A new little window opens below and you'll see your files by name.
Close this whole tab.
If it doesn't close(sometimes it won't) just ignore it and go to the OTHER(original) thorforum tab you'll see open.

See the submit reply button?
Punch it.

Pics in your post! (hopefully upright)
My top pic was edited, my Bottom pic was not.

Now, to see these small pics people have in their posts:
Punch the picture.
Wait a small moment, punch the new popped up picture.
Now it's a full screen zoomable pic in its original resolution instead of the tiny little pic.

It works for me every time without fail.

NOTE:
This post was posted BEFORE I read Post #5 in this thread. Let me try those clarified instructions first.

During the meantime, I have found 2 pictures that I uploaded on this forum that were sideways; but upright on my PC.

https://www.thorforums.com/forums/sh...5&postcount=49
I will test by trying to load those again to this thread to see if I can get them upright.

The below is dated post before reading post #5 above.
To clarify, I assume you mean to edit the picture before uploading to this site, or is there someplace to edit a picture on this site after you have uploaded?

I wish I could find one of my pictures that happened to be sideways or upside down? Maybe I get confused across multiple forums, but I have played with rotating the pictures 90, 180, & 270 degrees and it always turns up wrong side up Granted I quit trying; so I can't remember the last time I tried?

Just seems like the picture should always be uploaded in same orientation that you have on your PC? If that has been fixed and I need to just try again, I will look for. Maybe I have to search through my last post to see if I can find a picture sideways or upside down and try again. I do not believe I have ever uploaded a picture that was already upside down or sideways

Duck,

I am missing something Specifically... when and where did you edit your top picture?

I don't know that it need to be edited until after submit has already been done

Update:

Following the Ducks instruction, I took a picture that despite it being upright on my computer, uploaded sideways. So I went back and opened that picture on my PC and saved again with a new name and uploaded again. I can now see the Edit (saved) version upright.

You edit pictures it in your phone or computer, save it as 'whatever.edit' .
Upload the edited picture to this site and it'll be clocked in your post in the position you saved the edited picture in.
That top pic:
I grabbed it into an editor, cropped off a couple of rows of pixels, added an edit suffix to it so I'd know which to upload, saved it in the phone, and then uploaded it the site.
It's a two minute ass-pain. Other sites using the same format have fixed this problem a couple of years ago.

You can't edit on this site because of the 2 hour edit limit the admin has put on the site. It's just a matter of checking a box to change the 2 hour to something reasonable. And You couldn't edit a picture here anyway.

If I were able to edit I'd go back to the initial post and make it clearer.
I don't know admins reason for the edit time penalty, but it sure makes it impossible to fix something, add something, add a picture to an older post or REMOVE THE SIDEWAYS PIC AND REPLACE IT WITH AN EDITED PIC UPRIGHT.

No matter how you rotate in your computer or how it shows in your computer, if you haven't done an edit it'll flip sideways on a whim when uploaded to the site.

Got it.

I think for most if they were like me are focused on rotating the picture to get it the way they want. Then they upload and it comes out WRONG.

It should be stressed that User is doing nothing wrong as they may know how to upload a picture. Proof is that it is sideways.

The lesson learned
, is how to use a workaround for the bug

Simply say open your upright picture on your cell phone or PC and resave with a new name. Upload it and presto!!!

Thanks for that secret as it has been long time annoying. I don't get the 2 hour cutoff either?

I don't know Bob, I had a few beers and was excited about trying the Duck's instructions on my way home. I am not sure what went wrong because I didn't spill any beer

But at least I don't have to worry about someone stealing my Catalytic Converter

And if you want to post a full size pic instead of a thumbnail, a couple more steps.

After you have uploaded your picture from wherever. And before you hit the post button,
Click on the picture that you just uploaded in the manage attachments box. The picture will open in another window. Right click on the picture then left click on image address. Close the window the picture opened in.
Then go back to your post and click on the little picture box at the top of your post. Looks like this:
Right click in the address bar and select paste then OK.

Borrowed pic from an above post:

One more. If you want to post an image from another site without copying it to your computer.
Right click on the image on the site you want to copy from. Left click copy image address.

In the reply/Quick reply box on this site or other site, this works on every site I'm a member of.
Type this code in,
[IMG][/IMG]
Left click between the two image brackets and paste the image address. Click Post reply/quick reply.

For instance
