12v power source for fantastic fan

I am looking to install fantastic fan in freedom elite 30 fe. I have 14 inch vent right over kitchen area. There is no pre wiring for fan. 12v lights are not to far, but they operate on switch, so I doubt I can tap into that light. Any idea where I can get power from in this situation or if any one had tap into light that operates on switch. Thank you.

Is this an existing vent that is being upgraded? If it is: you might already have power leads up there...

Are you sure they aren't prewired? e.g. did you take out the inside trim piece and look around? Sometimes Thor does prewire.

Take the light down and see how it is wired. Hotwire can be at the light. What is called a switch leg goes down to the switch and comes back up. The ground stays at the light.

I agree with poking around a nearby light even though it's switched. I installed a motion sensor light in our wardrobe, and pulled wires from a light over the dinette. I'd pull the fan and fish around in the ceiling if it's accessible... manufacturers typically run common wire bundles through the ceiling in many of their brands to make dealer "option installs" simpler.

Question

My 2019 30FE has a fan in that ceiling vent that's between the galley and the refrigerator. It's operated by a switch over the sink - a double switch. One is for the lights over the sink and stove, the other for the fan. There is a second switch on the vent itself.

What year is your coach?

I have 3 vents in coach main area. One over the cab area has wires passing through. I am sure it’s 12 volt wires. I might have to splice in order to add fan there. The vent in kitchen area has no wires. That’s where I want to install the fan. The one in bedroom, I installed 2nd ac unit.

I found two wires black and white in cabinet over main door entrance. It’s only about three feet from vent. Those wires are coming from ceiling and going in that cabinet. I am going to pop the panel and see where those wires are going to. I think it’s either going to outside door light.

There is 12v power near the vent. Remove the trim ring and you will find the wires. Our former coach, a Coachmen Mirada came with a fan-less vent (no idea why).
