We just put a set of the Nexxans on Vegas. They seem fine on 50 mile ride home.

The oem Michelins just started showing minor cracks at 5 years, 9 months.

I like the idea of increased weight rating of Nexxan tire.

I appreciate all of the comments in this thread. I was unsure of what direction to take for new tires on my 2017 32 ft long C. I just know the OEM tires kinda suck, but the 16" is too small for the tire I would prefer. Based on the feedback I went ahead and ordered up 7 of the Nexen Roadian CT8 from DiscountTire (price matched to Sam's for $128 ea).

Should have them installed Monday or Tuesday and plan on updating how things go for my rig. Our next big planned trip is in May throughout Wyoming.

I'm up to about 7500 miles on my Nexens.

Going to have them rotated at Discount tire before we take a couple of big trips this summer.

Still working out well.

Those Nexxen are hard to find. I went to different tire stores and they couldn't give me anything that had a load rating above 2,800 pounds. Our RV guy said "You find them, I'll put them on".

Found them.

Of all places Amazon. I got 6 coming in for under $750.

Just returned from 2nd trip to NC in past 45 days. The Nexxans ride very good and without the spectre of older tires I frequently find myself cruising with traffic too fast. I try to stay around 70 on smoother roads.

17.5's 2008 e450 Hi ya'll so I've been looking for these, seems Rickson went out of business, even tried a trailer wheel as I had the ability to enlarge the hub opening. But somehow going to a larger wheel created brake clearance problems. Seems the recess in the wheel barrel is in a bad spot. Anyone know of a new source or a scrapper that bought Ricksons leftovers?

They were in trouble a few years ago before COVID when I tried to buy them for my Outlaw 29H. They were quoting me a 6-month lead time but at least they didn't want money down. The sales gal eventually had enough and quit and I cancelled the order and decided to move up to a Super C.

I doubt you will find another source. You are better off going with a C-Type 16" with a 121 Load Index. They were few and far between a several years ago but they are more prevalent now thanks to all the delivery vans on the road. Here is an example:

Changing the wheels for larger wheels and tires designed to carry a heavy load full-time (commercial rated tires) vs LT tires which are not meant to carry max loads full-time is not directly related to the axle and total weight rating.

The weight of most Class C’s over 25 feet are pushing the maximum weight capacity of the stock tires and not the axles. And as I said, LT tires were designed for part-time heavy loads….. like throwing a load of mulch in the bed of a pick-up truck where the load will eventually be lightened and not stay permanently in the bed.

The best and first upgrade most Class C owmers should do is upgrade to a C-rated tire. The Rickson 17.5” wheels opened the door to a wide range of tires that were designed to carry heavy loads 100% of the time. Therr are fewer options for 16” wheels.

Ask DOT or Ford cause I don't care. I just hate having so little reserve. Plus I think I'll get more miles from the tread.

I finally had my tires rotated a month ago. Discount told me that the tires were 10/32 from 11/32 new. They barely are showing any wear in 11,000 miles.

The RV is almost always at max load rating when we drive it.
