2013 30.1 ACE convert 4 pin to 7 pin trailer/towing connector

I have a 2013 30.1 ACE that came with only the 4pin trailer connector, I would like to convert it to the 7 pin round style to be able to tow my vehicle, has anyone done this conversion? Are the extra wires I need for the 7 pin connector already run to the rear of the MH ? (for electric brakes and aux/battery?
Thanks

My ACE also only came with the 4 pin connector. I have looked, but I have not found a place to replace it with a 7 pin connector, BUT:

You don't need a 7 pin plug to tow a TOAD. No electric brakes, no reverse lights. and probably no need for a charging line. I tow 2 different vehicles with my ACE and a Patriot III braking system with my 4 flat connector.

There also would be occasions where I might need to tow a trailer with electric brakes. I figured someone might have done this conversion, but I'll definitely look at the Patriot braking system.
Thanks

You will need two extra wires to convert the 4 pin to 7: a heavy 10 gauge wire protected with an ignition triggered relay for Toad charging and a trailer brake wire from the brake controller that is hopefully connected to the Mh’s connector under the dash. Not all Mh’s come with that connector so you will have to create your own.

The Patriot or similar sounds much easier.

Here's a link to a video showing 7-pin to 4-pin... opposite of what you're doing, but same principle and connections. It's likely there is no wiring for a brake controller if you have a 4-pin. But if you're installing a brake controller anyway, stringing the wiring from the rear to front is fairly simple... probably the easiest part of the whole job.

https://youtu.be/hqze3Qgz-Ng

If you're going to tow anything - trailer OR flat tow - I'd go ahead and at least install the 7-pin connector and run all the wiring required from the connector to the steering column area of your motorhome... basically a "brake controller prep" which is how nearly all newer Ford chassis are prepped.

Then when the time comes, installing a brake controller for a trailer OR using a signal wire for a flat tow setup, the wiring is already there which makes it simple.

Some brake setups require a "signal wire" from the tow connector to the motorhome cabin (dash area) which gives a positive indication (tone and light) when the aux brake is engaged. In addition, although not required, an auxiliary 12 volt charge line from the connector to the toad battery is suggested... just eliminates issues down the road. If you convert to a 7-pin, all this wiring is included in your prep procedure.

Running the wires can be done, I could do it on mine; but if I had a need to pull a trailer with electric brakes I'd go the bluetooth controller route - simpler and portable.

You'd still need to install a 7 pin receptacle and run a power wire to it though.

I simply bought a 4 pin to 7 pin adaptor for our 2013 ACE for the Blue Ox tow setup. No need for a charge line since the only battery drain is the Blue Ox Patriot brake.

Like this?

But why? Just put a 4 flat connector on the TOAD.

I use the Blue Ox electrical cable which uses a 7 pin connector on the RV end and a cannon plug on the toad end for brake and running lights. Hope that answers your question.

The 4 pin works fine, however, i was a little rough on it and broke one of the pins. So i have added a plug on the 7 pin connector, this is just an extra brake light on my trailer hitch.

My 2014 30.1 had the correct wires and the plug in the dash but they did not come out the back. I found out that some of them they didn't wire completely so I had to hard wire it to the 7 pin plug with the power and braking wires. It was a pain and pissed me off.

Thanks for all the info, I was hoping the wires would already be there to adapt the 4 pin to 7 pin, but sounds like they are not, I am going to first get the 4 to 7 pin connector done then figure out what I need to do the toad.
