2016 Hurricane/Windsport 27K owners - satellite TV help

I'm sure this topic has been discussed on many threads by now, but my searching efforts have become a bit frustrating.

We have a 2016 27K (on a 2015 chassis). We are going to install a Winegard Trav'ler satellite dish. Thor customer service sent me a roof diagram showing where the factory installed a "backer" for future installation of a satellite dish.

So my question is - is the info I got regarding the backer board from Thor accurate? The placement of this backer is on the passenger side, in the front of the TV antenna. Hubby says the fit is going to be very very tight and he's taking/making precise measurements to be sure the antenna won't interfere with the satellite antenna if both are deployed at the same time.

Has anyone installed a satellite antenna (we're going DISH) in this location? If so, do you have any suggestions or guidelines for running the cables over to the driver side cabinet where all the boxes/switches reside?

Thanks!
Eileen in AZ

Did you figure it out?

I found panel by accident while installing Winegard's Trav'ler satellite antenna. Had a tool with me that has a strong magnet at the bottom, traced all magnetized areas until I had a full profile drawn on roof. It is over the passenger side.

Yes!

We contacted Thor, asked about where the backer board was and were sent a diagram of the 3 layers of roof. Hubby got up on the roof and did a lot of measuring and figuring and found where the backer board was located...right where Thor said it was.

It seems a bit odd that they would place the backer so far from the area where the boxes and cable connections are (driver's side). It is also VERY close to the air antenna. We don't put both up at the same time even though hubby thinks there would (barely) be enough room for clearance.

He then took almost a week and installed the whole thing himself, including all the cables and cords. He also installed the extra metal plate for strength and stability. He did an amazing job and saved us a lot of $$ for an installation. The dish works perfectly. We've been out a couple times with it and all is good.

Thanks for the follow up!
