2017 Thor Windsport 35c locking fuel cap

I have a 2017 Thor Windsport 35c.
I have had problems with someone stealing fuel from my Rv . Anyone have any idea how to keep that from happening again. I have contacted Thor and they said they don't have a locking gas cap. I thought I would throw it out to the foum, since y'all are very knowledgeable.

You contacted Thor about a cap on a 6 year old vehicle?
Take cap you have to any auto parts store anywhere and hand it to the counter guy.

It's a very common gas cap. Do as Duck says and take yours to an Auto Parts store that sells locking gas caps. They'll fix you up in a hurry.

A simple "check your local auto parts store" seems adequate. I would offer the same advice.

If everyone was as knowledgeable as some, no one would ever have questions as they would know everything. If that were the case this whole forum would be a waste as there would be nothing to learn or share. What is better is when us folks who don't know everything and ask a question and they / we get some belittling dummied down answer.

Maybe things have changed by now, but I swapped my Wrangler TJ gas cap for an auto parts store locking one. The idiot "check engine" light never went out... it didn't seal properly. Didn't hurt performance at all.

While parking on THE university campus, and since I didn't have a Trunk Monkey (no room in the Jeep), I put up with the idiot light.

It lasted 15 years before the lock finally broke. Put the original stock cap back on... the light went out.

I said it the way I did because within the last 6 months or so someone was instructed to go to the parts store. They went To I think three.
Couldn't find it. Didnt ask, just Couldn't find it.
I think it might have been wipers,...

Hand it to the counter guy
was experience based on how an op search was done.
Nothing more.
Some require more instruction and detail.
I did not option for Amazon or eBay so as to make sure the op got a fitting part from a real person.
I left no gap. No option. Just a direct, hopefully knowing, source.

A base is needed when answering a question. Had the base been different I'd have sent them a thingaverse file or milling instructions or alternatives.

To the op:
Always ask here first before searching. We know the dead ends, the fast shippers, the delayed shippers and usually even the part number and supplier.

I have a 2017 Miramar 33.5 which is on a 2016 chassis. I went to a NAPA store back in 2018 and bought a locking gas cap from them and has been working flawlessly since. Good luck on your quest.

I got one today. Yes, there are reports of Fuel being stolen again. That is pretty low on the stealing scale. This one is the replacement for a 2021 F53 FORD. When installed and locked the fuel cap just rotates. I guess the fuel thief will go to the next RV down the line.

Its finding the plug for the lanyard hole that is the real challenge. ACE was out..

I should just post a sign on my RV.. Dont think about the catalytic converter either, that has a pad lock on it....

FYI...all chassis' are furnished by Ford with the complete fuel system in place...tank, filler neck and fuel filler cap assembly. Any auto parts place should be able to find one in a search for the specific chassis model.

Percentage of syphonings
VS
Holes drilled in tank?

I'm not sure a locking cap has been effective since tanks have been plastic.

Small cost
Peace of mind

I use a non-locking cap, using the theory that if someone wants to steal gas from my MH, they can siphon or drill a hole. I'd rather they siphon. I can buy more gas. Replacing the tank would be a huge PITA.
