That's great azadv ... I had very similar plans for our Axis but decided it simply wasn't built well enough to justify mods for long term uses. FWIW... long term RV ownership for us is about 5yrs and we were hoping for 10yrs this time around with the Axis but only made it a little over 2.5yrs Anyway... we enjoyed it for what it was and feel lucky to move on relatively issue free. Hope everything holds together for you!

Did you check any Air lift kits?

I second Weldtec lift kits

I installed a 4" Weldtec lift kit on my Thor 30D and have zero regrets.

That's a small-enough error to not worry about!

Curious how your mods have worked over time?

How is handling on road with the higher center of gravity?

Thank you.

Well I put 14k miles on the rig going to Alaska and then across to Maine and down the east coast then back to AZ. It’s more stable with the lift and new shocks and higher rated tires than stock. The before and after when driving it to San Diego from PHX to get the lift installed was night and day. It handled the Alaskan Hwy and everything else no prob. I wondered what everyone bitched about as far as the Alaska roads and I think it’s really the difference between a stock suspension and beefed up. I am really glad I spent the $ on it for that trip. I haven’t driven it much since October but am thinking of heading back to AK next year.

Thank you very much for the feedback. Glad to know it has worked well for you.

I was reading about lift and 4x4 and related mods that ujoint offroad does to Ford E series vans and motorhomes. They also report improved handling in spite of higher center of gravity.

The 5 Star tune folks claim the speedometer can be corrected with one of their tunes, you just need to give them some info on the new set up, which by the way, looks good.

But I wonder how the steering geometry and other handling aspects were affected with the lift kit, and taller tires.
I have been considering the Rickson tire upgrade in rim size, tire size, and enhanced load rating.
Their info shows that the overall tire height is nearly identical to the OEM tires/rims.
