Cup Holder mod in Challenger 37TB

Got tired of my Ozark Trail 30 oz cup flopping around in the lame cupholders and after searching for one that would accommodate them and coming up empty went to hardware store. Found a 3 in pvc union that slid into the original holders and holds my cup securely. The union is 3 in I.D. and 3.25 O.D. Going back for three more to finish all of the holders.

Thor must have got a real deal on millions of these... they must be in every coach they sell, and none of them fit ANY cup we've ever tried!

That's for sure. Went and picked up 3 more to cover all the spots in the front. May paint them black later when it gets a bit warmer.

Thank you for the suggestion! Oh, I need one of these! Could you please give a more specific part number or find a link at Lowe's and/or Home Depot? Thank you!!

I purchased a "cup holder adapter" from Amazon, about $8. I used tin snips and trimmed about 3/4 inch from the bottom, applied a liberal amount of 3M black weatherstrip adhesive, pressed it in the original cup holder firmly and allowed to set. The adapter has the advantage of having a slot for mug handles. My adapter holds my large Bubba mug very snugly!

The part number on these is Genova #60130 3" DWV SCH 30 Coupling. Neither Lowes or Home Depot list these, but Home Depot does list a 3 in. PVC DWV Coupling, Store SKU #189030.

Thanks Mash557 for the great topic of discussion and idea. I look forward to additional thoughts/ideas.

Would love to hear if anyone has installed cupholders in the dining table or the table between the captain's chairs? Thanks in advance.

Cup Holders

I found these at the local Wal-Mart. They are out of stock on the Wal-Mart online store but the local store had plenty. They fit perfectly and the grey color is neutral enough I am not going to try and make them black. I cut the hanger part off since I had no need for it. The best thing is they were $2.90 for four of them. If I find out later that I don't like them, I haven't lost much.

Thank you all for the various solutions and suggestions! We are on our maiden voyage in our Challenger 37tb and overall very pleased EXCEPT for these useless cup holders. Will seek pvc upon arrival at our destination!

I agree, One of the best mods ever and so cheap to do. I used the 3 inch PVC couplings and also try to couple of 3 inch to 2 inch just to see how they worked. And other than being the wrong color they're perfect!

Challenger 37TB Cup holders for everyone!

First, thanks to everyone who provided ideas, comments and feedback on this thread. Based on this, I was able to piece together ideas for cupholders for the Dining Table, Captain's Table and original cup holders. All in I spent a little over $30 for the cup holders, PVC and paint.

For the original Ford F53 console, driver and passenger cup holders, I picked up four 3-in dia PVC Cleanout Adapter Fitting at Lowes, then painted black. I had to put on three coats at the paint did not apply well to the PVC. They fit like a glove and look decent. The Lowes link is below and the cost was $3.75 / each.

https://m.lowes.com/pd/Charlotte-Pip...itting/3357816

Next, I used a 3-5/8in hole saw and put a two cup holders in the Captain's table and the dining table. When you drill, have a dustvac or shopvac nearby because saw dust goes everywhere. Below are the cup holders I ordered on Amazon in a 4-pack for $8.

Thanks again for the ideas and hope this helps others.

On our first outing with our ACE 27.1 we discovered these cup holders didn't work for either the standard 32 oz foam soda cup or tall 14 oz coffee cups. When I got home I pulled one out, cut the bottom section out, sanded the expanded opening large enough to accommodate these standard cups and put it back it. Worked great so I did to the other one as well.
