AC TV / Inverter

I have an all AC Samsung 22” LED with a DVD - Model # SLEDVD 226B. The Manuel says the Power consumption while operating is 35W. Doesn’t say if that includes the operation of the DVD player. I boondock quite frequently and want to know 1) what size inverter I should get to operate the TV/DVD and 2) can I split of the 12volt line going to the light switch to add a DC power socket for the operation of the inverter? Thanks in advance for any help on this!!!!!

Probably the smallest inverter you can get would be a 150 Watt MSW inverter. In the PSW inverter world the smallest would be probably 300 watt.

A 35 watt load would use less than 3 DC amps so your DC light circuit could probably handle the TV. I tapped into the light circuit to run my CPAP from 12 VDC at 50 watts.

That is very low for a TV and I am quite sure it does not include the DVD player. Look on the bottom for a power rating plaque.

David
It's a 22" LED TV

Sorry, I meant look on the bottom of the DVD. But the TV rating indicates that the 35 watts is just the TV. The DVD player may be more.

I got a 400 watt inverter from Harbor Freight that plugs in to the cigarette lighter port in the cab. I just run an extension cord to the TV/DVD/Amazon Firestick.

David, the TV is also a DVD player.

It appears a 400 watt inverter would work based on Wayne & Elissa’s reply.

Make sure you are using a pure sine wave inverter... modified sine wave will sooner than later destroy electronic devices. Lots of articles out there about the difference.

This is NOT good... use at your own risk.
https://www.harborfreight.com/400-wa...ter-56496.html

It may work just fine on some TVs depending on the build quality of the TV. Cheaper TVs generally don't have line noise filters, so you may get an annoying high pitched frequency. The problem is the excess heat generated in components... heat vs. small surface mount components... the heat eventually wins.

The TV never sees the AC. The AC is rectified and filtered to DC before it ever reaches the TV electronics. In fact this TV may even have an external "brick" that does the AC to DC conversion external to the TV.

I currently have a Fusion power 400 watt inverter Model No: 782-2232. Would this work without damaging electronics?
