Quad View Monitor

Kabutl asked that I post this info:

I installed a 10 Inch Quad view monitor in our Vegas as the dash mount is pretty much worthless when driving. It just can't be viewed safely. We are very happy with it. It was really easy to install, mostly plug and play into the existing connections under the dash panel. The trigger connections are easily traced using a volt meter and turning them on one by one. The cameras just plug in. The monitor shows 4 screens, one of course is blank cause there are only three cameras. When a turn signal is used or put in reverse, the screen goes full screen to that camera. You can configure to three screens but I didn't like the layout.
It is convenient and faces the driver. When preparing to turn in heavy traffic it is intuitive to check the screen you want as they are layed out as they look. if all is clear you then turn on the turn signal and get full screen.

The only thing that is flaky is the monitor seems to refresh itself every couple of minutes. Haven't figured out why, but will mess with it in warmer weather. I got the monitor from Rear View Safety.
Be prepared the documentation is almost worthless.

That sure looks as if it's MUCH more useful than the current setup that I have.(Dash-mount, and only one view at a time...)
Can you tell us anything more about the system?

Very nice! I purchased a 9" single to install. I have three fused vertebrae in my neck so looking down to the dash is (wait for it) "a pain-in-the-neck"! LOL I'm waiting for warmer weather to install (30*outside). I am going to try mounting it to the rear view mirror puck. That would be ideal for me. And, keep it back far enough that it isn't in the way when getting up to move to the back.

Bob,
Not sure what else you would like to know, as I said it is a 10 inch monitor and can be configured for 1, 2 , 3, or 4 screens. However it is configured it jumps to the needed screen when triggered. Basic configurations such as 1,2,or 4 are on buttons. Three screen configurations or moving screen around are through a menu. I had an issue that it would not stay on a selected screen at first, and rear View safety was great about replacing it immediately.

You do have to be aware that resolution is less because of the larger screen, particularly noticeable when bright sun is behind you. It comes with everything you need for surface or pedestal mount.
I used it on a 4000 mile trip and particularly in city traffic I love it.
I am hoping I can figure out how to plug GPS into the fourth screen.

Can you give us an idea of where to purchase one?
A website perhaps?

Is this the monitor you have?

https://www.rearviewsafety.com/safet...r-monitor.html

I'm wondering how hard it would be to add a front facing camera to the RV and adding it as a 4th input. This could serve as a dashcam if a dvr is added. I believe they have some models with the dvr integrated.

Waiting on a 10 inch quad monitor to arrive from Rear View Safety. Not only did they give a military discount, they refunded the difference when the monitor went up in price just as I had placed my order. Great customer service from Priscilla. Will follow Whirnot’s guidelines for connecting the unit. Plugging in the camera seems straight forward, it’s the Triggering wires that are my concern, not good at the electrical part. Usually end up setting my eyebrows on fire.

Great idea. I would mount another rear camera to add a constant view of our little toad car, in the 4th screen slot.

I’ve had my quad monitor for almost a year now and love it! I only hooked up the reverse trigger wire not the turn signals. I use my mirrors but can still switch views when I want, love the bigger monitor, much easier to see. My monitor is mounted on the dash using a Ram suction mount and adhesive mounting disc.

Super D, not familiar with the Ram suction mount, where did you find it? Haven’t decided if I will trigger just the rear or all 3. If I can configure the monitor the way I have in mind then it won’t be necessary to connect the triggers for the signals.

Go to Amazon and search for Ram mounts. I purchased the Ram suction mount and adhesive disc along with a short double ended arm and ball mount for the back of the unit. Clean the area where you’re going to mount the disc with alcohol, press the disc firmly in place and allow to cure 24 hours before using. This is the only picture I have.

I have a question : Do the cameras on the Thor MH's have RCA connections ?

Semper Fi ( 70 to 74 )

No, they don't have rca connections. I am not sure what the connection is called but it plugs into the connectors that come from Rear View Safety.

I believe they are called Cannon Plugs. Used them in the Air Force but we had to safety wire those. Don’t think that will be necessary in your MH. Just installed a 10 inch RVS in our Ace. Still praying over the trigger wires, can’t seen to find the final color combination for the reverse. All of the others working fine. Thor CSR said white switch box wire is power, green is grd and yellow is reverse.

After steamboats post, I remember them being called Aviation plugs.

Here is how mine is hooked up:

Trigger 1 Not used
Trigger 2 Blue/white tracer
Trigger 3 Yellow
Trigger 4 Green
12-32V Yellow/ green tracer
Ground White
Not used Brown

This is for a 2017 Vegas.

I show three cameras all the time, but when reverse or a turn signal is activated it jumps full screen to that one.

The only time I used the emergency flashers the screen freaked out, and I had to turn it off and back on.
