ACE Top Cap Paint
Finally solved the oxidation issues on my 2017 Thor ACE 29.4. Had the top cap painted using the 2020 Thor ACE design.

Yeah I like it. Did the paint job also do around the front windshield?

If I may ask, where did you get it painted? Cost? Mine is oxidized too.

Last thing I would do is paint the cap black. Too much heat absorption.

Wouldn’t be much heat gain on just the cap. It looks great and it makes him happy. I like it.

Paint and prep done by Rehorn RV Collision Center in Sacramento. Cost was $950.00. They were outstanding to work with.

We have had a couple of 104 degree days the past couple of weeks and have not noticed a temperature increase inside. The black paint/clear coat is my attempt to copy the new 2020 Thor ACE paint scheme.

Wow incredibly reasonable cost. I’m in the Northeast so the price would be comparable here.

Heat absorption
Black or dark blue, not sure heat absorption will be that different. Also, there are so many points of entry for heat (windows, air leaks), that at some point it doesn’t matter. Like cooking an egg in boiling water, once hard-boiled it doesn’t get hotter. Finally polymeric materials, unlike metals are poor conductors. Obviously I wouldn’t paint the entire roof black but the cap, not to worry, and it does look great.
