I did the same. Just bought a 20A home style breaker at Lowe’s for about $5 and a small two slot box for about $15. I mounted a 20A inlet to the side of the box and use a 10ga extension cord to power the Air conditioner.

I put a 13.5 over the bed which makes the bedroom very cold. I put a fan in the doorway to blow the cold into the rest of the rv and in 95 degree Florida sun the rv maintained 71 degrees. I have an ACE 30.1 and put a separate 20 amp male plug on the wall in the septic bay. That way I use a 20 amp extension cord to the shore outlet panel which will act as a breaker for that line.

As an update I added a Furrion 14.5k with manual air box yesterday. Tem outside was 90 and 85 in the bedroom. I tested the unit for an hour and 20 minutes and it was 57 degrees in the bedroom when I turned it off!
I still need to fish the wires outside, but the initial test was a success. I was wondering though. Since there is a breaker on the pedestal, what is the point of a breaker inside? Just as a redundancy for extra protection?

That’s great news abt your new mod.
If it was me, I’d find a way to install a small breaker box. Maybe inside an open area near where your cord will plug into pedestal.
So, yes…it’s redundancy. Plus you’ll be following electrical code guidelines so that when you sell, it doesn’t look like an unfinished add-on.

That makes sense. I already have a 20 amp breaker that I will install. I was just wondering.

If you rely on the breaker on the pedestal you limit your connection options. We stayed at a park with only 50A connections recently and I was good to use both of my air conditioners because I had one of these (there are cheaper versions but this one is astonishingly well made…):

I installed the breaker in the overhead cabinet above the bed. Perfect spot as it was the route I took for the power

Whoa! They’re pretty proud of that splitter.

Aren’t they! It was quite a bit cheaper when I bought it last summer
