Adding an extra roof vent

We have just purchased an Entegra Odyssey 25R. I would like to improve the ventilation without increasing the noise over the rear bed. To do so I'd like to add a roof vent and MaxxAir forward of the A/C. I have the factory schematics, but they really don't show the best location. I'm open to suggestions based upon your experience. Ric

Your question is one that few if any forum folks have tried. Have you called Thor to see how the framing is located and where the wiring is routed? That's where i would start if I had to add a fan.

Have you considered two Maxxfans, with one blowing in and one out? With 10 speeds, they don't have to roar. I was expecting to do this, but we are satisfied with just the one Maxx in the front and crank vent in the bedroom. All depends on where and how camp.

Just me, but I would not cut any new holes in the roof of my coach. That being said, on warm days the three roof vents on my 29m provide plenty of exhaust for any warm air in the coach.

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated. I've looked at the roofs of several Odyssey models and note that not all vents are in the same location, so maybe the company has a standard roof design and places holes according to the model. The schematics are above my pay grade, but I hope that a technician/RV repair shop should be able to figure them out. I know that cutting into the roof will void my roof warranty, but I'm ok with that. The desire is for power ventilation pulling air from the back to the front and then out the roof. That has worked very well in our previous rigs, but without power ventilation if the air outside is stagnant and hot and maybe it's raining, and we've just driven many miles with chassis/motor heat enveloping the idle coach, the A/C with generator would be the only alternative. Sure, we can do that, but we prefer sleeping in the quiet with windows open.

Forgot to mention that the only opening roof vent not behind the desirably closed bathroom door is over the rear bed.

But
I'd just take it in to a shop you trust and have it done and not mess with such things as roof membranes and studs and wires just to save installation cost.

Agree here...call Thor. As long as it's not proprietary data, they can send you the blueprints/schematics for the framing, wiring and A/C duct system (if you have ducted A/C). Anything can be done with proper knowledge and skills. Is your framing aluminum or wood? You may have to go back between the roof and interior ceiling a few inches or a foot or so to add additional bracing. I had a friend that added an additional entry door and steps to the bedroom of a 31' travel trailer. Looked factory.

I feel the same way unless there is a design for this option I would worry about causing an extra place of leaking.

I'm with the others on this one. I'm handy but I would not do a roof vent. Risk too high.
