Adding interior decorative wood trim casing to the ceiling

Saw this elongated octagonal ceiling trim in some DP brochure and intend to make one and install in our Thor Aria 3901. We have the light glossy wood cabinets. I bot 32' of 3.25" wide poplar window casing at Menards for $31 and 32' of Magic Double-sided Clear Grip Tape; Traceless, Washable Adhesive Nano Tape Gel on Amazon for $15. It is 30mm wide and 1mm thick. It should fit in the 1mm deep groove on the back of the casing. I'm hoping after gluing the mitered corners, staining and varnishing, the double-sided tape will hold the completed wood medallion (9.5' long x 2.5' wide) to the leatherette ceiling. If the dear wife is not happy, I'll take it down with hopefully no damage to the ceiling. If she is happy I'll consider nailing to the 5/16" plywood backing behind the leatherette ceiling. Anyone else tried this? Words of wisdom for me before I do it? Thanks, Marty Potts

Looks really good, is not to sure I would nail it up. A lot of the double sided tape is pretty strong. Being close to the ceiling and roof would be a concern for me. Perhaps there is no issue to attach that way without worry. My eyes are not the best.

decorative ceiling wood trim medallion

Well, I did it: A 9.5 ft long by 30" wide ceiling wood medallion made of 3.25" wide window casing. I used 1mm double sided clear nano tape to hold it to the leatherette ceiling. I may have to power nail it after a test drive. I will provide more pics/detail if anyone is interested.
