adding a motorized Windshield Shade?

Our last RV. fleetwood Storm had a motorized Windshield Shade. It was nice because you couls also put in part of the way down and use as an sunviser. Has anybody tried adding one to their Thor Hurricane?

From this company online that sells them RV Windshield Shades | MCD Innovations

I’ve not done that specific task but I’ve purchased manual side window shades from MCD and have nothing but good things to say about the company and the product. They are pricey though!! Motorized shades are their primary business and I have every confidence that they can fix you up with a first rate product.

Drop by McKinney, TX and they will install the shades for you powered or manual. MCD Innovations is a division Airxcel the company that makes Coleman RV air conditioners, Suburban and Aqua-Hot.

2017 and later Hurricanes and Windsports came with motorized front shades. Earlier coaches came with two large draw curtains with overhead tracks and individual double articulated, tinted sun visors. Having lived with both, the insulated curtain (custom made) provides much better insulation from heat and cold than the privacy shade. That said the motorized privacy shade is much easier to operate.

My 2021 32T came with the MCD powered windshield shade and it works great. Very pleased with it.

Yesterday I went down to an authorized MCD Innovations installer near my home to see if they offer a shade solution to my Sprinter Chassis Thor Siesta. Unfortunately due to the pitch/angel of the windshield they did not feel it would work. They gave me a couple of ideas to investigate to see if they would work. I currently use a form of insulation windshield that was cut to fit the windshield shape. Another reason the MCD roller shades might not work is because I have a windshield lane detector/collision avoidance monitor (mobileye system)and a windshield camera.

Plant 750 coaches have a protrusion on each plastic side beauty panel to guide the shade toward the front of the windshield and hold it away from the driver when lowered half way.
