I second the Walmart idea... 99 cents per so I always carry a few just to use as bump stops on our slides, my head just doesn't seem to know there is something above me (especially when wearing a ball cap...)

We'll be out on the Spyder tomorrow; it's a good place to pull in, and pick a couple of them up!

Another alternative is to use "Armaflex" tubular insulation on ladder. Is stronger and much more resistant to deterioration from sunlight. It also will spread load across bigger area. I saved some from a bigger projects at work as it is great to protect surfaces and kneel on/against during projects.
Is available in many sizes from an HVAC or insulation supplier.

I'd have to buy one: and then have to learn how to NOT crash it into the top of the rig!

"I use my drone for all roof inspections."
AWESOME! The wife has been balking at my buying a drone. She actually just ok'd it since it's "just" for the RV.
Thanks TGC!!!!!

Congratulations!
Just don't get caught flying it over your neighbor's pool...

Ditto and may want to ask them if the roof is 'walkable'. Read somewhere that sometimes when they come w/o a ladder, the roof is not structured to carry that load and/or the rafters are quite a distance apart. Better safe than sorry?

I'm calling Thor after the 4th; and see if I can get some specs from them.

I've the same issue with our 25.2, a rear slide is great, but no room for a ladder. I've a telescopic ladder on order and it'll be all I need 😁.

We ended up using our telescopic ladder for this weekend's projects on the roof...
This Missus has decided that this might just be "good enough for us"!

Check the weight limits on those telescoping ladders and stay under 80% of capacity. That would be a funny scene out of a cartoon for that thing to come zipping down, smashing fingers and toes. A Christmas Vacation makeover!!

We spent the money to get one of the GOOD one: a 350 pound capacity behemoth!
But it does reach up to about 16 feet!

Watching Tour de France on TV over last couple of days reminded me of this thread. There are 1000s of motorhomes along race route and so far haven’t noticed one with a ladder on back to access roof. It may be their roof structures are too light to climb up there, or maybe Europeans prefer a cleaner exterior, or simpler “less-is-more” design.
Also, Volta battery systems uses a Euro-style motorhome on an ad that has equipment on roof, but no ladder to get up there. Thinking back when I had a Class C, I don’t recall ever getting on roof except at home to inspect, clean, or maintain. On the road the ladder went unused. If I could order a custom Axis 24.1, I’d be tempted to go without a ladder. I find RV ladders hard to use anyway.

My first step is 5' off the ground. I need a ladder to reach the ladder.

You don't need another ladder: just a small trampoline!

You're right, very few European motorhomes have a roof ladder. I think it's to do with cost really.
