Weekend Project: Vent Covers

Went to Camping World and picked up two black and two white vent covers from MaxxAir. Black ones go over sleeping areas and white ones for the kitchen and bathroom.

Since I was installing 4 covers, I decided to make a template for the brackets instead of the way that MaxxAir has in their video. Made it a lot faster.

All four covers were installed in a little over an hour.

Next is finish research and install an inverter!

Nicely done!
Glad to hear that you’re on the Inverter “train”.
You will love the convenience of an integrated Inverter for your coach.

Still trying to decide whether I want to go with a single circuit with a smaller inverter or get a larger inverter and a sub panel with three circuits.

Single circuit I would choose the general receptacles so that the refrigerator would be powered while we drive and not use propane.

Three circuits would power those general receptacles, the GFCI circuits, and the microwave.

By smaller inverter I assume you mean 1000-1200 watts

The 2nd option/larger inverter (3000-4000 watts) may also require:
- larger house battery bank (3-4 batteries, maybe Lithium?)
- which may then lead to an upgraded Converter to charge battery bank properly
- which then leads to a new & compatible BIM (connects engine & house batteries)
- which then leads to more Solar charging power (panels & larger/expensive MPPT solar controller)

Either way, it’s fun to plan & execute.
So keep us posted

I’m going to throw another battery in regardless of which way I go.

I was thinking of adding the other circuits only for convenience. Heat up a breakfast burrito. Reheat my coffee. I’m not planning on cooking a lasagna.

If I do just the one circuit, I’ll need an extension cord to plug in my coffee pot to the nearest non-GFCI circuit. Not a dealbreaker, just a consideration.

Got it.
I thought you potentially wanted to run your air conditioner off the inverter as others on this site have done.

Alrighty then…
So for me, I have just the non-GFI outlets on the inverter.
And I added a standard junction boxes under the cabinets to route new outlets on that same line to convenient locations (I wanted my exterior TV to run off inverter & Thor uses a GFI line outlet for it)

Just standard household 14 gauge copper wire tied in with lock nuts inside the junction boxes.

Also, there are a couple of outlets on the GFI line that are convenient & probably don’t need to be GFI. So those can be re-wired to the non-GFI line if desired.
And if I still need an outlet on the new line to remain GFI, then I can purchase a stand-alone household GFI outlet at Hardware store.

Remembering, of course, that I have just 1200 watts of available power when using my inverter so as to not over-load.
