another mattress question

The current "olympic queen" in the Renegade is good but I know that sooner than later it's not going to be. I also plan to cut down the base platform from the olympic queen, 66x76 to a more residential queen of 60x76. Unfortunately can't go the full length of 60x80 so RV queen will have to do. Recent threads on mattress suggested mattress insider but I've also seen recommendations on this and other RV forums for Wilderness RV Mattress. One option also is a tempurpedic, to that type construction and then cut it to required length.

For those who have bought the Wilderness or Mattress Insider, what is the construction? Inner coil springs, layered memory foams, or ?? Also for those who have them and like them what usage do you have? Weekender, 1 or 2 "few weeks trips", or long stay usage? We tend to take 3-5 trips a year if which a couple will be 2-3 months in length. The reason for that question is a longer trip doesn't give a mattress time to recover and may lose shape more quickly.

The answer to you construction question is easily answered on the mattress manufacturer's website. Most any mattress you buy "mail order" will be a sandwiched foam construction as they are shipped rolled and compressed. The details of that foam sandwich depend on what model mattress you purchase.

Call the folks at Mattress Insider with your questions/concerns. They are very helpful.

Thanks I have read the description on the wilderness site and it has both, coil springs and sandwiched foam layers. I'll read up on the Mattress Insider later today.

In my Itasca Horizon DP I had a tempurpedic type mattress, real queen size that unfortunately I sold with a toy-hauler a couple years ago. It wasn't a Tempurpedic brand but similar sounding name which I can't remember. They can be cut to size with long sharp fillet or electric carving knife.

We just bought the Mattress Insider 8" Park Meadow inner coil spring mattress with the custom cut hinge section. (The 24"hinged section needed to be 2" thicker to accommodate the beds slide step) The Mattress insider rep recommended this mattress based on our sleep styles (back or side) & what we liked for firmness.
We are very pleased with the quality and firmness feel of the mattress. Price was very reasonable, just over 1K with taxes and shipping for an RV king.
AND they are manufactured in South Carolina. Another BIG plus in my book!
