Where to put it

My Thor MH has no outside 110v outlet. It has one inside of a cargo hold but none mounted on the outside to plug in a light, fan or mood lighting. To use the one in the cargo hold requires leaving the door open to it which I really don't care to do. I know others are without an outside plug. Has anyone installed an outside receptacle on their MH? If so where did you tie into the electric and where did you mount the receptacle?? how did you route the wiring or where.
I have a 2010 Thor Mandalay

I would love one for the mood lighting and plug in golf cart charger.

I just cut a hole with marine grade access plug underneath where the plug is in the bay floor and run an electrical cord

I guess that the question to ask is: "Where do you need it?"

good points above.... I like the sound of the hatch in the bay for simplicity, but that would be a bit more of a pain in the neck for frequent plug in and out stuff....
Of course I don't know your layout or your needs really. It's where it needs to be for you.
I'll say this....
1) it seems like it would likely be easy to add an outlet just outside of the one in the bay
2) mine is on the awning side, mid coach. If I were installing it form scratch, I'd put it closer to the awning arm, so when my wife wants to put up her tacky lights, they could go right to it.....

I would love it near the front maybe between the door and main awning or in front of the door. I have one in a bay but thats not really practical and would mean leaving the bay door open to access the plug.

My concern is where to tap into 110v ...among where and dow to cut a hold in the side of the coach..uggg

Most outside outlets are tied in to the internal ground fault circuit. (GFCI) Almost certain a code requirement

a 'cable hatch' is perfect and fits nicely thru the bottom of the storage bay where your 120v outlet already is.... $10 and done. There's a reason factories don't install 'outside' outlets, the mess 'up' the pretty of the coach!
