It has been nice to keep the one room cabin on wheels inside and ready to go. We've been admiring some RV port home communities as a retirement option.

For those of you that have 24.2 floorplans, I'm curious how you like the flexible seating on passenger side. And do you get a lot of use out of it compared to couch?

I'm wondering if this kind of arrangement could be installed on driver side of other floorplans to replace the couch or dinette. I like that seats can face each other as a dinette, can face forward during travel, and can rotate to any angle to view TV. Other than not converting to a bed, it looks very user friendly and also doesn't take up a lot of floor space.

The dinette captain chairs are the same as those in the cab. Adjustable and so much more comfortable than any dinette type configuration we've ever experienced. The couch stays in the bed configuration unless the slide is in for travel and even then we never sit on it.

We don't hardly ever use the couch. I hate dinettes and just love the captain chairs. I do not like my awning as much. We bought a 2015 leftover new and the awning has only worked about 4 times. It works only intermittently. I have made sure all connections are tight and that I have power to the awning. Today I had enough. Camping world said they fixed it and it worked when I picked it up but not when I got home. That of course after keeping it for 4 weeks. I took the motor off myself today and I am going to try to find a replacement. Other than that we love it !

We didn't like dinette either and took ours out and raised the floor with storage underneath and use the movable post table between chairs.

Feeling blessed that we had 2 years without issue. This was our first powered awning and it's usually put in/out many times a day. I was braver in windy conditions with previous lower braced manual awnings. However we use the powered awning considerably more because it's so easy, fun and the LED lighting strip is "just right" area light.

Thanks, it's good to know that that type of seating arrangement could replace a couch or dinette, except that it doesn't make into a bed (a minor compromise in other floor plans with multiple beds). It also seems like an easier modification compared to building a custom dinette to match interior.

The chair backs in our Axis don't quite recline flat. However, some years ago we were looking at a van where the chairs up front did lay flat into beds.

I like your arrangement much better. We've seen chairs in vans like that also, but to me they don't look comfortable to sleep all night even for children. The same applies to couches in back of vans that fold into beds -- they look too lumpy.

We are not looking to sleep more than four anyway. In Axis with rear bedrooms and overcab beds, for any additional sleeping we could occasionally use an inflatable camping air mattress or a 4" foam mattress on floor. We don't plan on ever traveling with more than four, and mostly it's only two of us. Forward-facing seats with seat belts are more important than extra bed.

The only real disadvantage I see is that there is no storage at all under 24.2-type seating compared to what you could have with a narrow dinette. And that's not a big deal considering the advantages.

I have a 2016 24.2. By the door I have 3 switched.
Left = porch light
Middle = interior light (4 in the main living area)
Right = does anyone know what this switch does?

Also, I can't seem to find a hazard lights switch. Does it have one?

BTW, We mostly use the 2 captain chair also and not the sofa so much.

Hazard warning is on the top of the steering column. Stretch your neck up when sitting in the driver's seat and you can see the switch.

Thanks you guys so much. I haven't put my awning out yet and I looked all over for the hazard switch the other day but obviously didn't look there.

Hi Ty,

I see you installed a Trac Bar. Do you know what model you installed.
I do notice it;s a bit wild at times, especially when windy.

You probably know this too. I will be importing this into Canada in another month or 2. They require DayTime Running Lights. Do the strip of LED lights under the head light that are always on when the engine is on qualify as DRL?

I've been searching for that one a while and I'm thinking they do but would hate to get stopped at the boarder when trying to enter with this rig.

Thanks
Jeffd11

Our 25.2 is left=porch, middle=awning led strip, right=main lamps. Made sense to me, but need to label for the significant other...

Possible next up though, is a nice inverter that didn't get installed in the last RV. It's just sitting there squeaking install me. A few loose wires will probably get loom and secured better. A can of rust paint waiting to be used on those pesky frame spots showing surface rust from day one. But simply ... the current priority is getting out to enjoy it.

A would be fun list includes:
- solar panel system
- auto level jacks
- magnetic external window covers
- custom springs for 2-3" lift
- a unique couch bed setup
- aluminum wheels
- TPMS
- etc...
It really never ends I guess...
Ty,
Funny you should mention the rear lift. I just had my RV service center install spacers on the axles that lifted it two inches at the rear bumper. You can now see space when looking across the top of the rear wheel well. I have a bit of a problem pulling out of my sloped driveway so hopefully, this will take care of it even though I have steel rollers on the back already.
