These fit nicely.
You can put two more in the front for a total of six added 6volt batteries.

Have you figured out how to hang them yet? Are you moving the chassis battery down there too?

I have about a half mile of thick wall 2" angle iron(bought at a yard sale of all places. New, it was a pipe dream of someone trying to buy their idiot son a job) here and will build the battery boxes starting this month including the engine battery new mount.
There's a coach floor metal support that runs right along the top of the Ford frame, just on the outside of those bongo bins(someone else's name for them that I've adopted. With the two bins and the bass tone channel between them, they're like a set of bongos).
I'll hang the battery box on them and tie to the ford frame hopefully using the exisitng bolts in my rear spring hanger.


After buildng and designing the first set, the next ones will be jigged and welded in about half an hour.
Maybe I'll have a second set finished in time for the spring meet
They'll bolt in, no welding to the Thor.

That is behind the front tires correct? Are you going to build something in to protect against stuff thrown up against the batteries from the tires?

Oh and another thought: That is going to add weight to the front axle. Many Axis/Vegas units are close to overweight on the front axle.

It's behind the front tires.
I have purchased the wheelwells that are (I think) in post 83 or 156 in my thread, but the boxes will have marine hdpe sheet(seaboard) as armor.
I'm thinking to ease life a bit the filler tube thingies will be accessed by that step up ledge to the cab. It should be easy to put the water inlet there and I won't have to jack with the wheel well access.

My 24.1 has a straight axle and leaf springs,

but

air bags for coilspring fronts are available for about 50 bucks. I posted a link earlier in the year where Amazon had them for 21 bucks. New heavier coil springs are under 200bucks.
I vaguely remember Ford making heavier factory coil springs for their snow plow package.

Three batteries at 67 pounds each weight less than me as a passenger or driver and are almost directly under the seats.

No frame welding sounds very nice. I have a bunch of 80/20 Alum extrusion, 1x1x96. It's a 4 sided T-slot config. We should talk.
