Our 2014 Axis does have a mic on the camera which works/worked with both the 212 and the 215.
(Putting it in reverse cuts out the audio and cuts in the rear camera mic.)

No mic on mine. Thought it would have one but spent a couple of extra hours at the dealer when we bought it and after tech checked for it and called Thor, was told that it wasn't included. Suppose when they switched over to the Axerra from the Jensen on the 2015s it wasn't included for whatever reason.

I spoke with CW today. I was told that the antenna can "see through" glass and fiberglass, but not metal. With the Axis, they put it in the dash board. The large window and fiberglass body don't hinder it enough to warrant it being placed on the roof.
I have not noticed a problem yet, however we haven't used it much either.

I would be interested in knowing how the antenna works when you are travelling due North. I believe that is when you may start to experience some intermittent signal strength issues.

We just took a trip to California Coast. Put the antenna on the dash by the windshield. Did not have any problems. Now to figure out how to hide all the loose cords. (separate Sirius radio mounted on dash using 12V plug, aux input cord to radio, etc)

Sirius(my employer) only recently added a geostationary satellite. There is also a set of three low-earth-orbit satellites providing signal (at any given time two of which are "visible" over the US).
Here is a good animation that shows the Sirius satellites orbits:
Thus even if the antenna is on the dash in an Axis/Vegas and the driver is driving due north satellites will still be visible.
Also note that the other structure besides the front cap is just standard aluminum framed fiberglass/wood which would allow signal through as well.
XM has always used geostationary satellites and it wasn't until after the merger did Sirius launch one as well.

24.1 dinette conversion
Recently picked up my new Axis.
The 24.1 dinette conversion is completed. Camping World did the conversion...

Great looking job and more practical than the couch. I would like to do mine if and when I get time and money together. Would you care to comment on the cost?
Thanks

Too much money. Cost was 2K. If I had to do it over again, I would just build it from scratch myself.

Jamie,
I have XM in my unit and have difficulty with a northbound route also. I added a large metal ground plane for the mag mount the drop down bed but haven't been able to take the unit out yet. This is what I did with the 166 MHz two way I used when I ran the TV and radio stations here.
I was supposed to be in Arizona right now but family member medical issues have delayed the trip. Hopefully a trip to the gulf will be possible in March or April for a test.
Should the metal gp help with the XM signal?

XM is different: XM uses geostationary satellites; Sirius didn't until recently.

i think i figured it out hold button and use the switch you will here some beeps so its like a limiter switch so you can change how far up or down you can go and so on you will have to play around with it .

The last two are connected to the other panel on the outside lower right corner of the cabinet.
The inner panel makes it easy to make the connections when installing the TV. The outer panel makes it trivial to connect an IPad, DVD player, or whatever without rooting around behind the TV.
In the bedroom the thieves left us with this nice mess. What’s really interesting is that the original mount was attached with two screws into one ¾ x 2” “stud”. All the other screws simply went into the paneling. I guess it’s structural. (not!)
We were faced with removing all of the cabinets and the bed structure to replace the destroyed paneling, or simply covering the hole. I was pretty sure that once removed nothing would ever go back in correctly, so we opted for the cosmetic fix.
I made a 24 x 13” plate of ¾” cabinet-grade cherry plywood. The edges were banded to make it look nice. I had to relocate the coax connection to accommodate the new mounting plate. The plate is screwed to three “studs” and is quite solid.
The “new” TV is a 28” Samsung. Actually, the new TV was nicer than what we had in our bedroom at home. Soooo, it ended up in the house and the older one was moved to the coach. It's still a bigger/better TV than the "San-who?-ee" that it replaced"!
Both the living room and bedroom TVs are on easy-to-remove mounts. They will be removed for storage from now on!

nice mods im willing to drive to your house from wa state so you can help me

Agree with mcr1010, a nice job which would be more practical for us than a couch. Forward facing seats with seat belts are a must.
As I recall, the space where your dinette is installed was not the same as in other Axis/Vegas with dinettes in slide. If you don't mind me asking, what size dinette did you end up with. I'm assuming it's custom size. If folded into a bed, how large would the bed be (seems to be the normal way to measure dinette sizes)? Like 42"X68" or something close to that?
Thanks for posting picture of the finished conversion. Maybe Thor will finally offer a dinette option in place of couch as they do on other models.
