That was my experience as well. I first had the alignment checked, and there was a dramatic difference after installing the Safe-T-Plus. I could have lived with the ride without it, but (in my opinion) it was worth every dollar spent. I also installed Koni shocks - wow, what an improvement in the reduction of the effect of bumps on the road!

I also had one installed recently. Noticed the improvement when getting passed by semi's especially. We're still getting pushed around by wind gusts and considering adding front and rear stabilizer bars.

I, too, noticed the improvement when being passed by semi's. My first real road trip to properly evaluate it will be on my trip from Ohio to Florida next week. As I mentioned in another post, I could have lived with the steering without the Safe-T-Plus, but now that I've got it, I'm glad I did it.

I also love it, we go west a lot and there are a lot of unfriendly cross winds out there and life is much better with the Saf-T-Plus

You guys are killing me! (LOL) I would love to get mine ordered. However, just put the cash out for new washer/dryer install, a new Trav'ler Slimline Satellite Dish for roof, and King Jack antenna. The DW says I better wait until next month for the Safe-T. Certainly going to have it on before we head out the end of May!

My Experience with Safe T Plus

First I own a 2014 Windsport 27K, which has been both a blessing and a curse as many of you know.
Safe T Plus is in my opinon one of the FINEST companies in the RV industry I have dealt with hands down!!!!
I had my safe t plus unit installed at CW, well the unit pulled so badly to the left that without constant correction I would veer into oncoming traffic. Of Course the problem was my fault, the front end, the tires, the driver and of course they could never find it as all ford f53 chassis pull left. Have any of you heard these....
I had no luck adjusting the unit myself, not that mechanical so I called Safe T Plus These folks are remarkable, they made multiple attempts to help my mechanical Disabilities, they called me back regularly to see how it was going. Now NO company in the RV Industry has treated me with this respect and level of service. I eventually took a 7.5 hour road trip to the factory, they took care of everything, including insisting on a small road trip to be sure that the unit was functioning to my expectations on many different road surfaces.
The Safe T PLus is one of the most important steering safety upgrades you can do and when you find a company that can provide service like this one let me know. Just don't CW to do the installation correctly.

IMHO Safe-T-Plus is one of the best on the market. Roadmaster has their centering spring on the outside which makes it susceptible to damage and catching crud. Blue Ox is a great product but way more expensive and complicated. Blue Ox must be wired to 12v to power the centering motor.

All three brands do essentially the same thing but I feel the Safe-T-Plus is the more refined unit, simple, well designed, and a company with excellent customer service!

SafeTPlus

I agree with all. SafeTPlus had excellent reviews. Plus I was able to order it through Amazon Prime, receive it in two days and had a nearby truck chassis specialist install it.

We added the Safe-T-Plus in the first 4 months of ownership and it made the world of difference.

We drove to the Plant in Georgia and had it installed there at No Charge. The technician was great, we took it out for 20 minutes of stop and go and adjustments until it felt correct to me. The staff at the Plant were great, allowed me to watch the install gave me a tour of the facility to watch fabrication and gave us company logo ball caps.

They make all different sizes of the Safe-T-Plus Unit, I believe the Vegas 24.1 uses one of the smaller ones.

Great product.

Safe-t-plus

I purchased a safe-t-plus and had it installed by a truck alignment shop that said they knew how to do it. After several go-rounds with that shop, it became apparently did not know how to adjust it.

I then paid again to have an RV place adjust it to keep it from pulling to the side.

After much $$$ it at least does not pull to one side. But I feel no improvement in steering. I’ve crawled under and can see that it is there and appears to be properly installed

For me, I just spent a wad of money for nothing

I wonder if something was installed or adjusted wrong or the device was damaged. I don’t know how to tell.

Sorry you had such a hassle with installation. Its not really difficult to do but easily can take 3 or 4 incremental adjustments to get it set up properly. As to the effect on steering I don’t think it is supposed to alter steering feel. It’s primary purpose is to prevent/resist sudden changes in direction such as would happen with a front wheel blowout or dropping one side off the edge of the payment. Also can make a difference with strong wind gusts and such but I never felt much difference with small gusts like from a passing truck.

Well I don’t know about a front blowout and I hope to never test that out. But as far as strong winds or big trucks, I feel no improvement. From other posts, I was of the understanding that my steering control would improve. It’s still as loose as it always was.

Safe t plus has lifetime warranty. Roadmaster is one year. That was the deciding factor for me. Not sure about Blue Ox warranty.

Couldn't be happier with the Safe t plus. Well worth the money and would recommend to anyone thinking about it. I ordered from Safe t plus directly, fantastic customer service and very friendly and knowledgeable about their products.

Although it wasn't too bad before installing ( did the CHF from day one) it's like driving a totally different RV now.

Would highly recommend checking your alignment before installing. My steering wheel is just a few degrees left of center now when wheels are straight. I can live with that for now since it's barely off center.

I couldn't tell that prior to installing the Safe t plus since it was hard to determine what straight was while I was sawing on the wheel a bit to stay straight.

Install for me was scary easy, took about 45 minutes total, most of which was rounding up tools. I thought I may have had some trouble loosening the leaf spring u bolts based on some comments I've seen. I blasted the bolts with liquid wrench the night before installing and the next day had no trouble removing the u bolt nuts with a 1/2 breaker bar. Almost nailed it dead on with first attempt, over adjusted the other way on 2nd and hit it dead on with the 3rd adjustment. [emoji88]

I put a Safe T Plus on my class C and found the installation to be very straightforward. Took me 3 tries to get it adjusted just right. When I traded for a class A I chose the Roadmaster, mostly because other Roadmaster products I’ve purchased have been wonderfully engineered and beautifully made. Oh, and it was cheaper. It was a different chassis so not strictly comparable but install was even easier and I got it adjusted more quickly (mostly because I was more careful to have the steering centered before I started he installation). They seem to function equally well but I think the Roadmaster seemed to be a bit more substantial - although, again, since it is on a bigger coach it was a larger size. If I ever need another I’m going to go with whichever is cheaper. You won’t go wrong with either.

Laen,

For our Vegas 24.1 (E-350 chassis) we had the 31-140 Safe-T-Plus and mounting kit installed at the plant (1230 C Six Flag Road, Austell GA 30168) back in 2015 for a total cost of $500.50 (1-770-322-8727). OUTSTANDING change in handeling was notice during the rides for install adjustments when hitting pot-holes.
We opted to go to the plant as the install was free. We had a tour of the plant allowing us to see how they were made, ask questions and have them do the install and adjustments. They were great, quite friendly and answered all my questions
I am now a SOB (some other brand) owner and will be having the Safe-T-Plus on our 2019 Nexus Viper 27V (E-450 Chassis) later this fall.

I put a Safe-T-Plus on my first RV and liked it fine. Used the Roadmaster 3 times since and like it equally. It was cheaper and seems (to my inexperienced eye) to be more robust. Equally easy to self install and adjust.
