Adding an extra 110 power source, 20 amps

We wanted to run 2 heaters or extra appliances, running on separate sources. Cliff drilled a hole and installed the plug, then put the outlet under the sofa.Click image for larger version

It has been extra cold for us North Carolinians so the additional heater is a great idea.

Not a bad video but a couple of nit picks here.
1. Drawing a knife or box cutter towards is a safety no no.
The proper way to strip the outer insulation is a shallow cut the paper and drawing the knife away from your body. Check with any master electrician.

2. The use of none insulated staples to hold the wire may result in damage to the wire.

3. I use rounded pliers instead of flat to prevent making nicks in the wire for the bends to go under the screws.

To be clear: That isn't Rhonda's video, and I didn't make it either. I just found it interesting that the RVgeeks youtube channel posted a video of the same mod that Rhonda posted here.

Understood. Just commenting on the video. And regardless of the possible issue I still believe it is a well made video.

#10 Romex is overkill. Personally I would have used a metal box below with armored flex conduit and #12 conductors. Meets residential code.

Agreed...but, have you pulled a receptacle in your coach. My '18 has NO box, just "ears" to hold it to the puny panelling. What residential code is that?

Another thought is to swap out the panel and "service" cable to 50 amp, add the breaker, but that'd be a whole different video.

Yes, I have pulled out a receptacle. Unbelievable how chintzy. I don't understand why he thinks his current service is inadequate for an electric heater. If its designed for 15 amp service, he should be good already.

I think you mean a 30amp service. I agree, and I'm adding a 15 amp for 2nd appliance circuit uses existing receptacles opposite the galley. The issue would be having 2 1500w space heaters and other loads, ie; microwave, tvs, coffee maker, that could cause the 30 amp on the pedestal to trip. The additional 20 amp cord is cheap and easy.

Taking the rv on a quick New Orleans trip. Can't wait to run 2 heaters, iron, coffee maker, etc. Without worries about blowing fuses. We bought the fe22 in August of 2016, and ended up adding over 10k of modifications to make it more comfortable. We will hit 20k miles tonight, and we were ready to drive it through Cw's showroom after the first trip. I wish Thor would make a catalog for add-ons that would make it easier. Next up, heated tanks, levelers, more cameras, and more storage cabinets over the driver seats.

We stayed in a KOA in Cordele, He last night. They only had a 30 amp and 50 amp plug. So now we will hunt for the adapter that will allow us to use the 30 amp and 110 outlet. Nothing like a little chill in the air to get going faster. Our buy and fix list keeps getting longer. He wants to add levelers next and heated tank strips.

Looking on amazon, that won't be too difficult to find an "Y" adapter.
