Vegas Chassis Battery Access Panel
As most of you know, to access the chassis battery on Vegas/Axis rigs you have to remove the workstation cover and cut away the plywood piece. This also provides better access to the oil fill port for those of us that can't pump oil. So I found the following wonderful Home Depot spring access panel to fit the cutout for $17...highly recommended!

That's a great idea.
Did you modify the desk as well, or you leaving it so you always have to remove the desk?

That's where I'm going next, think I will cut plastic in half so don't have to remove workstation each time / can't believe they don't make this critical access ore accessible!

I missed this thread earlier but, WOW!, I wasn't told that the battery access was under an uncut piece of plywood. My Axis is still at CW (7 weeks and counting) so I can't look, but no one told me at the PDI about this. I love the ingenuity of your fix, but my concern with the snap-in panel is that it won't seal against engine compartment vapor or exhaust leaks. My first thoughts are for another panel, large enough for weather stripping, and screwed in place. Maybe leaving the routed groove for the weather stripping. Would making the cutout bigger give more or better access?

Nice, I just cut the plywood loose and added some hinges that were laying around the shop. Plus two pieces of angle to keep the plywood from falling through. Add a little foam weather stripping and done.
Still take two men and a boy to remove the cranking battery

That is pretty much what I have done too. Didn't like the idea of the plastic panel either.

Thor Axis/Vegas 24.1 Chassiss Battery Replacement
I am getting ready to post a full video on the process of replacing this battery. I wanted to post here to see if this would be something that is wanted. If so once done I will post a link back here to the YouTube video. Thanks and happy camping.
