Axxera or camera or both
For better rear view would just replacing the axxera do it or would a better camera also be needed. Using OE in 2017 29FE.

Put an additional larger monitor on the dash as many others have done.

The camera that comes with class A (I assume it is the same on a class C.) is ok, but with the location and sense of the Axxera's screen is not so good. A lot of have added a 9" monitor just to the left of the driver on the dash. If you want to just view a single camera at a time, it works well. Just pull the video input RCA plug out of the Axxera and plug it into the monitor's input. You can get a quad 9" monitor that will show four camera views at the same time. Hook-up is somewhat more complicated as the video switch box must be bypassed. The Axxera will continue to operate as it was before except there will be no camera function. A new high def color camera does improve the rear views.

Would a large monitor help the darkness problem? I often look into my Axxera and can barely make out my Jeep because of darkness. What brand of 9” monitor do you recommend?

Depends on what you want the monitor to do. I have a cheap Pyle color monitor, but is a single view monitor not a quad view. I still use the video switcher to the monitor and the Axxera radio/CD player works great.

I am not fond of the sound the Axxera makes, perhaps its the speakers but either way it is not good music in my ears. I only need a single view monitor. Can you make out what is in the monitor in detail. In detail, is pretty subjective and I am not looking to spot bugs on the windshield, just a clearer view. I am able to see my toad but not much more than that.

Yes, the picture is quite clear but remember even though the monitor is capable of 1,400 x700 and the camera is rated at 480x260 so it is not an HD camera. Did you remove the protective film on the camera lens? Most dealers do not even though it is on their PDI checklist.

Thanks I will check that protective film. When I first took possession it seemed much better but I had nothing to base my assessment on so it’s all subjective. Beau you stated it was a Pyle monitor. What model number are you using? Thanks!

It is a PLCMTR92 Back-Up kit from Amazon. It was an open box purchase but Pyle replaced the missing parts on the mount free. I plan on installing the camera in addition to the stock camera, if it ever gets below 100+ here. I plan on using the stock camera to monitor the truck and dolly and the new camera as a rear view camera. I used a Pyle 7" monitor and camera on the previous RV and was very pleased with it. One more suggestion - I have mounted the monitor outside of my normal view before - about the windshield. It did not work well. Most of us are trained to scan left to right and not look up or down. This is because humans have much better peripheral vision left and right as opposed to up and down, so mount the monitor in a line in-between the rear view side mirrors. That way you will get max use of it without retraining your eye scan.

9" quad view rear view safety monitor.
I have it set to view the three camares. Left is rear, top right is left, bottom right is right.
I first had it set up for whole screen to turn on when left or right signal was activated but i later disabled it. I found the the three view was good while driving.
I do have the full screen come on when in reverse

Half price are you using stock cameras that came on vehicle? Do they provide a good view? Pics are greatly appreciated but still unsure about clarity.
