Calman's GPS Mod

Got ready to take the RV for its first overnighter Thursday and realized that (1) RV didn't have a GPS and (2) I'd have to use the GPS on my tablet. But, then I thought about the nice expensive GPS (TomTom) I had on my Gold Wing trike.

So I sez to myself, "Self, why not make a GPS holder for the RV that will hold the TomTom? You got all kinds of scrap cedar to make one." So, I did and I now can move the GPS between the trike, RV, and pickup.

Took longer to think about a design than it did for me to make it. Took all of 30 minutes to make it (15 minutes waiting for glue to dry).

Overnighter went well. GF and I drove down to Fayetteville, camped out at Ramsey St Walmart, went to Case Lot Sale at Fort Bragg Friday AM and back home 24 hours after we left. Nice relaxed and didn't have to buy ice for "cold goods".

Good job. I put a metal plate (electric junction box cover) under the plastic cover there in that little cut out. Then with a Rare Earth magnet hot glued to anything I put there stays there (Dash Cam, Nav System).

Where in NC? We are between Hickory and Gastonia.

I have an Android holder i bought from Walmart which sticks to a window and put it on the side above the rear view mirror of my RV for GPS. The battery lasts about two hours but I strap a 'juice' battery to the back with a rubber band. Saw that TOM TOM(?) on the handlebar there and way long ago when I was living my 3rd childhood, I used to get one page maps, cover them in clear plastic and tape them on the Gas tank of my bike. This worked OK until I got caught up in Miami, Fla. 5 O'clock traffic. And my Spanish was not the same that they use there. Fortunately they took pity on me and showed me the way out. It's funny now 30 years later.
