Insulate the outside

I took one look at the seals I would have to break and decided to insulate the doghouse on the outside, and the floor too - very little engine and tire noise but still plenty of air noise.

I have the 2015 Thor 25N.1 so I know there are differences in the various models, but many have the same features too. My dog house is held down by four long bolts that screw into nuts that are on sliding brackets which present
a moving target. I had to go underneath and reset a couple in order to get the bolts started. Mine also has a flat, angled bar that holds it to console behind the
radio with about six wood screws. It wasn't going anywhere with it on until I removed the brace. It had some 1" insulation glued to the underside but was
coming loose. I re-glued it but plan on adding the dynamat the next time I take
it off. This forum has a wealth of information for improving these RV's. Thanks!

Dog house

I have a 2018 axis 24.1 and had allot of trouble removing the dog house. There was a 1x2 blocking one of the top screws. I had to cut the 1x2 in order to get the screw out. I put in a modified 1x2 in its place, now i can get it out next time i try. The screw was located at the top left corner about 3" in . Hope this helps.
Has anyone else had this problem with the axis?

I had the same problem. I think I used a stubby or one of those angle screwdrivers for that one - and didn't bother putting it back in - didn't really need it anyway, in this case a bit of overkill! IMO

Has anyone had success in putting soundproofing on the underside of the floor to reduce the noise?

That’s a great question because that’s what I plan on doing when it warms up.

I just finished putting Kilmat (KLM8036 Amazon). It was easy to work with and has lines that make it easy to cut straight. Just finished today so I can’t tell you how much difference it makes. If it’s anything close to the difference in the dog house I did I will be very happy.

You put it on the under side? Did it seem to stick ok?

How do you plan to secure carpeting over your Dynamat? I want to do the same thing but need to understand the whole process before I tear out the old carpet.

I used alcohol to clean the area before I put it on. It really stinks and it’s waterproof.

Yes very successful. The only thing that STOPS sound is MASS.

Two layers of Dynamat Xtreame, then Dynapad, then the Dyna hood liner. under the floor and dog house. HUGE. difference in both road and engine noise.

Will post picts of progress when I get a chance.

I also added some under the RV. It really makes a difference.

I had done the dynamat on my doghouse too and also added Dynamat 11905 Hoodliner 32" x 54" x 3/4" Thick Self-Adhesive Sound Deadener (Amazon) for added heat protection and more sound deadening. It made a world of difference and after 10K miles has held up perfectly. No heat issues with the engine and it's relatively quiet (so to speak) inside. For under the coach, I sprayed a heat resistant rubberized coating which not only keeps down road noise, but also keeps some sound down.

I did the hood liner too. What is the name of the spray you used?
