Class C sound insulation and carpet project

I already added insulation to the doghouse, which helped with noise somewhat, but I'd still like my class C (2018 Chateau 31E) to be quieter on the road, so my current project is to add some noise dampening to the cab floors, and while I'm at it to install carpet in place of the stock vinyl.

Here is the stock vinyl floor.

The vinyl has some decent padding/sound isolation underneath.

Here is the bare floor.
Those little curved pieces of insulation are interesting. I'm guessing that's where the exhaust produces some hot spots, but they are so small that it doesn't seem like they'd do much. Or maybe they reduce some floor resonances there.

Here is the floor with the dampening tiles installed. I don't think the flat floor area under the seats will make much difference, but the forward firewall and wheel well areas might.

I used Noico insulation mat. It gets good reviews and is less expensive than Dynamat.

Looks good, you should see a nice difference. Did the same thing on my 30fe and there was definitely a nice improvement.

The carpet will help as much as the underlay. Then get some floor mats for the front seats to protect the carpet and to add yet another barrier.

Installing the carpet was tedious. I expected it to be a custom fit and just go right in, but it was cut significantly larger than the stock flooring, so I had to do a lot of trimming, trial fitting, trimming, repeat. Also had to do the cutouts for the seat mounts. I finally got it to fit pretty well.

All done. It didn't sound much different sitting in the driveway. I'll have to see how it is going down the road. It looks great, though.

Going down the road will be the real test. On my ACE after adding sound deadening it's very quiet until you start rolling at highway speeds. The noise level is still a lot better than stock and bearable but road noise is the primary component now.

I also have a 31E and would love to do this. Where did you source the carpet?

Beautiful job. I think most of the noise comes through the dash and fender wells and I don’t think anything can be done

I see they only have carpet for the E350. Is that what you bought?

In the vehicle search I entered 2017 Ford E-450 Super Duty. Here is the product:

I bet it helps with the heat that comes up from the floor!
