Clear door window for Axis.

A friend just changed out her 24.1 Axis door window. I definitely want to have this done. Here is a picture and what she had to say...Click image for larger version

Neat! Reminds me of something I did with a travel trailer I owned nearly 20 years ago. I'm thinking of doing it on the RV.

Had some plastic/lexan cut (think it was 5/16") to fit inside of each screen door section. Sections were held place by plastic clips like those which hold mirrors on a wall. Really brightened entry area and my day.

Nice thing about using the mirror clips is they made it easy to remove the plastic inserts to clean the "screen side".

Mine is, from the factory, an embossed piece of glass glued on the inside of the door, opposite the tinted glass glued outside the door.
I'm going to remove the glued in embossed glass, probably with a heat gun(or I'll use one of those automatic center punches to just shatter it), and we'll put the shade ON THE INSIDE OF THE SCREEN door so we don't have to open the door to lower the privacy shade.

I looked at the op's mentioned shade, and the cutting of the door and then having to open the door to work the shade made it...not for us....

Yep. The shade issue is the biggest drawback. How are you planning to put it inside the screen?

I've often wondered about why all our windows are 'clear', and yet the door window has to be 'frosted', though I also imagine that having a way to 'screen' it when privacy is warranted is not an easy task...

I'd love to be able to see out my door, but then again, someone being able to more easily see 'in' might be an issue, too.

I'm sure there's a product to allow this, but maybe the industry just hasn't felt the need to warrant paying for the additional cost.

In stead of replacing the frosted window I need and want to re-install mine. It just fell loose yesterday. I need to find out what epoxy is best used to put it back in. Anyone know? :-)
Thanks.

I taped it up temporarily and then put a bead of black silicone glue all the way around you can't even tell because the frame is black looks really nice.

Thanks.
I have it taped in place at the moment but want to add something better to keep it in place. As you mentioned, a black sealant of some type.
What the factory installed is a black material of some kind and is still a bit sticky but not enough to hole the glass in place.
I'm sure mother CW may have what I need or maybe I can go to a windshield replacement shop and pick something up.
Maybe I can find this at Wal-Mart in the auto area OR an auto parts store.
Thanks again.
Roy

Just wondering and maybe I missed something. Why is it that the door window is being replaced? Is this new one bigger?

Kind of two diffrrent discussions going on. One is about reinstalling a frosted glass window that came out. The other us about replacing the frosted glass window with a clear glass window. The replacement clear glass window referenced is slightly larger than the original frosted glass window.

Nice. Mine is 2016 and frosted. Do you have a shade? Do you have to open screen door to close shade?

Wow....I didnt think any of the Axis/Vegas were clear from factory.

At first I thought I would NOT want clear... but after using my Axis for TWO years I think I would really LIKE IT to be clear.

Did you purchase your RV new?

Wow, you answer my quiestion (did you purchase new) before I could send it.

I bet its been replaced (or is a single pane of glass.... the frosted window on the inside fell out and they never replaced it).

Can you see if its a single pane or not?

The door has a single pane of clear glass. I'm glad there's no frosted window because I like being able to see out. I really don't care if people can see in, if they like what they see maybe they'll leave me some money LOL.

We left the shade up on ours, and I got nothing but sympathy cards, and applications to local gyms!
