winter cover

We have a 2017 Thor Outlaw 37RB Looking for a cover for the winter month. Can anyone recommend a good quality cover that is suited for snow and ice?

IMHO a good cleaning & quality wax job is better than a cover.
If in a windy area doubt it would last the winter plus with lots of moisture, such as rain, snow & ice, with bit of warm sunshine will create a mold/mildew factory underneath.
I'm too old to carry it up, wrestle it around on the roof while playing hopscotch over all the vents, antenna & everything else on the roof.
One other consideration is come spring you're ready to head out, but the snow & ice hasn't melted off the cover you may not get it off til it melts.
Just my .02 cents!

Covers are not the answer.
Based on real and personal use I'll tell you they are always a giant fail of some sort.
But
Yes,
I've had a cover.
Get a custom made sunbrella cover if you insist on a cover.
A good one your size will weigh way north of 100lbs.

I'll NEVER buy another.

I just received an ADCO Designer Tyvek cover for our new MH.
This is what I had for my former camper and it was in good condition after 3 years...

Hi new 2020 Thor Vegas owner in Montana. Question so cover may cause mold? Cold humid here. Also can I just drain the lines and blow air into all lines to winterize?

I’m with the “don’t use a cover” crowd. They certainly can trap water inside which can get ugly. But also they can be a colossal pain in the aspect to put on and take off. Lots of folks just blow out their water lines and are happy but it takes a lot of air and it might not always work. Just a tiny bit of water stuck in a valve can crack it. I use the antifreeze but avoid getting any in the fresh tank or the water heater. The latter requires flushing the antifreeze out before opening the bypass valves. Works for me. Every time and no residual pink stuff after 5 minutes of flushing. Personally, I think it’s easier and faster than blowing out the lines. Takes maybe 10 minutes to winterize and I sometimes do it two or three times a season. For my coach it takes about a gallon and a half. 5 bucks.

Thx. What state do you live in? Also question the thor vegas has 2 rear tires how do you level 2 rear tires if the ground is not level ..in other words putting blocks under the outer rear tire does not sound safe with the inner rear tire down?

We’re in central Indiana and sometimes take trips to warmer areas in winter. They make LEGO blocks for leveling that are double tire wide but when I used blocks I just used more of them so I could put them under both tires. Sometimes took a LOT of them. I think I used to carry 30 so I could build small, stepped ramps to the desired height.

Use the pink stuff! The water in the lines goes down the drain when you blow out the lines and then sits in the P trap. Replacing a cracked P trap is not expensive or difficult. But I learned the hard way to use the pink stuff.
To cover or not is a personal preference. We cover with an ADCO cover that came with the rig and have had no problems. Mold doesn't stand much of a chance in our climate. Way too cold.
Our rig is small - just 24 feet. I use a step ladder on each side and pull it up at the back and then forward using broom handles to get it over things. Never get on the roof. Takes a bit of time. But not difficult.
I do use padding in corners and sharp edges. I do tighten it down. And then leave it alone until spring. Never had a problem with rubbing or water getting in. (But most of our water from the time I put it up until taking it down comes as snow.)

I have a Classic Accessories cover and have no problems with it with mold or retaining water and I live in Canada and it gets windy where I live and make sure its fairly snug using the straps. The only other cover I considered was the Hugger Cover made in Canada but it was a lot more money because its custom made for each coach design, not sure if they make them for Class `A`motorhomes

Glad that yours is working so well.
Keeping everything as snug as possible is the key: If that cover is flapping around in the wind: it will mar your RV's exterior finishes.

I have the exact same model and year MH (37RB 2017)
I tried a universal class A cover. Hated it. Never really even got it on in the first place.

Also, I got ambitious on a nice summer day and set myself up with a 5 gallon mounted tank in one of the bays and filled with winterize fluid. Hooked the tank to an incoming line to the pump with a valve.
I can now winterize simply by 1) bypass the HW tank and drain it. 2)flip the winterize tank valve. 3) open the main water tank valve.
Seriously less than a 10min job now.

New Cover for Sale!

Glad to hear the responses. I bought a new cover and it's still in the box. Never opened the box. I will sell it cheap to anyone on the Thor forum. If interested, please message me. Too lazy to go look at it right now, but it was purchased for our Chateau 29G class C.

Here’s my cover.
Yes, the initial outlay is a bit more ($3200 all-in)
And you need room on your property
But I decided before I purchased this most recent RV that I would not buy unless I had a hard cover

I live in a heavily treed area—mostly scrub oaks—so a cover is a must to prevent the coach from becoming filthy over the winter and into the early spring. I’ve had very good luck with top-of-the-line ADCO covers. Yes, they are a colossal pain to put on and remove, but for my situation that effort pales in comparison to what is required to clean an uncovered unit in the spring. YMMV.

Just be sure that dropping branches don't "poke holes" in your protection.
