Finding 12v

Guys

I get great help from the forums and a lot of enjoyment reading the banter. So maybe you can help. I want to add some 12v usb ports in my dinette and bedroom slide. I have a 2015 Thor 22FE with led lights. The problem I’m having is that the under cabinet lights don’t seem to provide good clean 12v. When I splice into them I interrupt the on/off function, turning the lights on as soon as I try to energize the USB port. This happens when I splice before or after the light switch. I have some nice usb fans but i don’t want the lights coming on every time I turn on the fan. Appreciate any advice.

These are commonly called
Fuse taps.
They come in different sizes, make sure you buy the size for your fuse box.
Tap a fuse always hot or ignition controlled, your Choice, and run a new wire from the fuse block.
It will be longer than you wanted by tapping the lights but it'll on its own fpiggy back fuse and supply uninterrupted full power.

Post 119 in my signature thread (below) shows some USB outlets I've added.

I've also added these in the bedroom and I think the bathroom.

(there's installation info in my thread but I don't know the post #.)

I can't think of a way tapping before the switch can activate the lights unless they loop feed like a ring counter. I don't think loop feed ring counters have been used since the 8008 days.

Thanks. Always sage advice as usual. Now I just need to figure out how to get the power to where it will be most useful. These will be great for back in my bedroom/slide area.

I added these to my post above.
They were NOT fun.
RV outlets are undersized so you have to enlarge the mounting hole.
RV outlets don't use box Mounts so you have to buy
Old construction boxes
Cut them down to the correct depth and the install.
The first one was an hour, subsequent were 15 minutes.

Maybe they make them as rv outlets?
Then they'd be a three minute swap.
I didn't think to Google them as rv outlets until just now.

Many thanks. Yes, I have added the Dual USB Electrical Wall Outlet for most of my 110v outlets but they only work on shore or generator. I was hoping for a quick fix to having fans while traveling without the generator. Your work reminds me that several of these are not for the faint hearted.
