DogHouse Insualtion

This weekends project..... Acoustic and thermal insulation for the doghouse. Fairly easy project that took about an hour or so with good results in both sound and temperature control. I might still do some work above the wheel wells(under the captains chairs) depending on how this performs after our next road trip.

I've been lead to believe all Thor's use the same fender flares.
If this is true go to the axis 123 thread and look at the wheel wells I bought that are right sized for an axis wheel well radius.
If it's not true, still go take a look and order bigger wheel wells from the same company.

I’m not familiar with this process, so sorry if theses questions are off base. Is the “insulation “ one piece that you purchased for your vehicle or is it some type of material you applied to the bottom of the dog house?

I purchased "Dynaliner" and applied to the doghouse, then applied the dynamat for more sound deadening

All on amazon

Finished with the installation on the coach's well wells. word of advice, if you do tis, cut the pieces of insulation/sound deadening material into small pieces... you might end u using a bit more material but you will thank me later.

That’s a great mod. I did something similar in my 2017 Miramar. I used Boom Mat which can be purchased online. I did two layers of it under the doghouse and 1 layer underneath the entire front cabin and in the engine bay underneath the dashboard by the front window. Additionally, I removed the plastic dashboard cover and computer work station and then stuffed cotton insulation (made of shredded blue jeans) inside there before replacing the covers. Lastly, I designed some front wheel well liners and had them made by a sheet metal shop. I had them completely LineX’d and then installed them myself. A world of difference afterward.
I think my next mod for the cabin noise will be to make a 2-1/2” high raised, foam insulated, carpeted floor atop the existing cabin floor under the seats to the firewall. Also, I’m toying with the idea of making another subframe that fits under the doghouse that can be thermo acoustically insulated as well. Good luck with your mods.

Holy Cow! Your not playing around. I would love to see some pictures of your old mod and your future mods.

I did several layers of insulation just about everywhere I can..... but always looking for more ways to reject sound and heat. Im very happy with my results but I think I still have some room for improvement.

Can you see the lights from the inside as well? That way you can use as a night light?

Not if you bring down the privacy shade.

I ordered the following from amazon and had enough insulation for the doghouse and enough sound deadening material for the doghouse and both areas under the captains chairs.

Here ya go...
Another thing I did to help with the quality of sound of the stereo is that I installed a JBL amp With component speakers up front and biracial speakers over the couch in back. That was nice too.
I’ll take pictures of my next project as soon as I get to it. Happy travels.

What I would do different on the wheel well liners is make that rear support a bit shorter or remove it altogether because the front tires will sometimes rub on it if you’re turning and the front end is compressed down while maneuvering.
