Need new TV in our 24.1

Ok, in our 2016 Vegas 24.1 the outside 32" Seiki TV died and I'm thinking about swapping out the TV I have above the door. Then I can buy a smart TV with QAM for my main TV viewing. Here's my question: Can I go larger? Will a 34" or 35" TV fit up there?

I could only find 39" available at my price point.
Nothing between 32" and 39"
The 39" will fit side to side, but up&down would lower head room. Will be hanging below door frame.
And, you'd need to purchase & fasten a different mount to accommodate the larger TV

I tried the same thing. 39 inch would not fit. I did replace wall mount with one that swivels.

I might be tempted to try those incredibly low priced, incredibly good led projectors and the $100 wireless remote roll down movie screens.
Full daylight will be bad but you'll have a big ol' picture.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MR...b_b_asin_image

This screen is great. I imagine they're all the same.
It would bolt right on the edge of the overhead bed.

You know you already have a roll down screen: the front sun shade.

If things ever get back to normal that'd be a good place to flip a movie and watch it from outside.
Lawn chairs, wireless sound bar, drinks... Young frankenstein....

Well now I understand. In doing my research on TV's I discovered that sizes go from 32" and then jump up to 40" and it looks like there's nothing in-between. And thanks to this forum I now see how to unhook my TV from above the door. So I'll order up a 32" smart TV and install it inside the RV and move my dumb one outside. Thanks for all the input.

I'd probably buy a
Roku
Firestick
Chrome
$14+
And save myself the expense and labor and discontent.
(we did)

They do everything a smart TV does, you can plug a headset right into the roku remote control, they'll use your own pictures as a screen saver, they update themselves automatically and if things change you're not married to it, you just swap it out for the different one that comes along.
I have smart tv's. I've never once used their stuff since I got a stick.
I can tell you the smart TV decided to tunr off my access to Amazon and YouTube and Netflix due to licensing squabbles. No access through their sole way to access such things.

Smart TV is a holdover like land-line telephones are.

Thanks for the above insight.

Seems like all these smaller TV's are 720p but I'm hopeful I can find one that is 1080i. The search continues on.

x2 on LG. They also have excellent off-angle viewing (viewing from the side rather than straight on) unlike a lot of other brands.

I bought a pair of JENSENS 32 inch and they are 12 volt and made just for RVs, they are not a smart TV but the Amazon Fire Stick gives me every thing I need, they are $350.00 each and no need to change the mounts, I only spend a little time watching TV so I do not need the latest and greatest picture, they seem to have the same picture as my Samsung 65 inch at home, I think they are fused with a 5 amp fuse so you can run them with out working about your batteries going dead, I always dry camp so the 12 volt option works best for me.

We’d bought a JVC ROKU to replace our outside the 32” however the “hanger” wouldn’t support it. Then BAM saw a Seiki at wal-mart.com for 79 and got it. It’s like the hangers are just weird and all have to be replaced for any kind of TV change out. Good luck.

You can install a Roku stick for about $30 and make your dumb TV relatively smart. That can connect it to the internet. That's what I've done on two of mine and I changed the main one to a Samsung 40 in real smart TV.

Actually, the back of all TVs adhere to a VESA mounting standard. Depending on the TV weight you may find one or more of the VESA holes on the back of the TV. The smallest ones are 75 mm x 75 mm, next up is 100 mm x 100 mm. Then:
VESA 200 x 100
VESA 200 x 200
VESA 300 x 200
VESA 300 x 300
VESA 400 x 200
VESA 400 x 300
VESA 400 x 400
VESA 600 x 400
VESA 800 x 600

The problem is matching the standard(s) on the TV to the standard(s) the mount supports. Most mounts adhere to multiple standards but may require an adapter plate. For instance a small TV mount may cover the 100 mm x 100 mm natively, but include adapter plates to handle the 75 mm x 75 mm TV or 200 mm x 100 mm and 200 mm x 200 mm TVs.

But guess where those adapter plates are for the mounts in your RV? (if they exist; some Thor mounts may be cheap, single standard, no adapters available mounts).

So that's why you sometimes have to buy a new mount when you buy a new TV for your RV.

I'm heading to my brother's place in Naples for awhile, but once I'm back I'll figure out if a 40" TV will work in my rig. I really don't want to have to duck my head to leave my rig.

I'd prefer a LG 32" that was 1080i before a 40" that was only 720p.

In my last travel trailer we went with the 12 volt TV route
However, now with my Vegas I have;
- 3 TV’s
- Dish Satellite
- Dish Wally with DVR
- DVD players

It all runs on 120 volts

So I installed the AIMs integrated inverter mod which powers all the necessary outlets, while also allowing me to run my laptop charger

Once Solar was added, I can now quietly boondock running all my devices.

1080i and 720p are the same thing. 1080i is interlaced 1080 (the TV shows half of the 1080 picture at a time) on a native 720p panel. That said, LG are good TVs with excellent off-angle viewing, and you really don't need 1080p at 32" anyway.
