Making Good Use of 'Fridge Space

During Hurricane Florence I decided at the last minute to spend some time with a 'Nam buddy in Jacksonville, FL. While down "there" I made a commissary run to NAS Jacksonville and purchased several quarts of milk.

However, the quarts were different from your normal run-of-the-mill quart containers found in eastern NC. These were short, stubbies and I immediately thought of saving space in the 'fridge by putting them on the half shelf in the Vegas. And they fit perfectly and make more efficient use of 'fridge space.

After I used the milk in the stubbies, I thoroughly washed them and now re-cycle them by refilling them with milk from tall milk containers.

Photo shows the difference between the two containers.

They sure do look like a really handy size!
I've never seen milk packaged like that before: is it just a "Military Item only"?

Military commissaries typically stock perishables from local sources, as with civilian groceries.

Nice to see more dairies go to this container.

I see the subbies down here in AR. Usaully at The Fresh Market or Harps grocery stores. Might be at Walmart too.

I save a few of them as well. Very handy.
