Filling Freshwater Tank Using Onboard Pump

Spent 5 days at Martinsville Race dry camping. I brought along an extra 25 gallons of freshwater in collapsable 5 gallon jugs. Getting the water into the tank was a chore in itself. I got to thinking of how I could use my pump to get the water from the jugs into the tank. Installed 3 tees and 2 cutoff valves. Now all I have to do is move a couple valves and pump water from any source, bucket or drum into the tank. It just reverses the plumbing.

Empties a 5 gallon bucket in 1 1/2 minutes.
I also replaced the cheap Artis pump with a 50 psi Shurflo.

Wow--I realize that your freshwater system is all sealed up, but really Thor: Putting the fresh water pump right next to the sewer outlet!?

Nice addition to your RV, and inexpensive also. I was thrilled to see my unit had a manual fill door when I purchased it. I still think it is a mistake for manufacturers to do away with them.

Hittntheroad, Wow, what a Great idea!!! Thank you for sharing, I think!!! Now I have another project! Really is a Great idea, I have to run a hose to my fill port to fill the tank, would be nice to do a setup like yours just in case. This weekend I'll have to look at my pump and see what I'll need.

Thanks
My tank is under the bed and the fill port is kind of high especially when up on the jacks. I had to use a ladder at Martinsville and holding 5 gallons up that high was kind of hard. I'm going to put a hose fitting on the pickup tube so I can add some length if needed. These pumps pull pretty far.

Thanks for that too, my tank fill is fairly high also! Will add an extension hose that will reach a ways on mine since I'll have to go shopping anyway.
