Rear End Ladder

Own a 40 ft 2013 Thor Tuscany. The bottom rung of the ladder on the rear of our motorhome is almost 8 ft above the ground. The ladder stops there because if it was longer it would block the engine cover from opening. I have a 9 ft step ladder that would let me reach the coach's ladder but it's not possible to store it underneath. Other than buying some type of a collapsible ladder, does anyone have another solution?

Why do you need to go on the roof other than when you are home? If you go there often I don’t see much alternative to buying a folding ladder. I carry one but don’t use it to get on the roof. Mostly I use it to clean the windshield!

Isn't there usually a second, removable section of ladder that hangs from the top section?

As for being at home; we'll be full time this starting this summer. I don't plan to be on the roof that much, but I'd like to be able to get up there when necessary.

Regarding the detachable ladder; If there was one, it's gone now. I emailed Thor asking if they offer something.
